I was lurking over at supraforums.com and they had a thread going about the day you bought your ride, and it got me thinking back...

It was September, still hot as could be, Tennessee summers. I was just back from school on labor day weekend when I got the call. My celi had come in from Wisconsin. We went down to the dealership, and I drove her for the first time, and from that moment, I knew she was going to be mine. I fell in love with everything about that car from the very moment I slid into the driver's seat. She was so smooth. Everything about her just flowed. She was going to be mine.

I almost laughed in an old woman's face when she walked up and started inspecting "my" car. She was aparently shopping, and stopped to inspect "my" car!?? Right then and there, my bond officially formed. She had made some comment to her husband about not liking the door style (no frame around the top) and I calmly told her "You needant concern yourself. I just bought this car."

After the wrangling and paperwork, I walked outside and there she was, freshly washed, shiny as could be, and 100% mine. The first thing I did was to take her out to the lake and stare out over the water. Just stare. With my sunroof open, and the starlight beaming in.

Funny thing is, I still get that feeling every time I slip into her in the morning to drive to school. Every time I see her across the parking lot, every time I wash her. There is nothing like the celica.

They say that a man's first love is his car. While I don't believe that (forgive me celi!) She's still my favorite thing in all the world.

I LOVE MY CELICA!!!!

I got my car the christmas of '02. It was the last thing I expected. There was a huge box under the tree. My parents insisted I opened it last. When I did, there was a smaller box inside it, and another small box inside of that one.. and so on.. and so on. Finally I got to a small box perfectly sized for a key. I almost peed my pants when I saw it.. I was like.. "PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS TO A CAR?!" and walked outside to my beautiful baby! It was the car I wanted a month earlier, but my parents said it was too expensive. biggrin.gif

Twas early February last year. My VW GTi had just crapped out on me, so I sold it for 3100 bucks. My dad told me that I could set my price limit to 6000, but the difference would come out of my college account. I searched and searched. I found a 96 Celica GT Hatch. Yellow. I called the guy and he had sold it. I was feeling down. I wanted another MKII VW, but my dad said he was through with their Bullsh*t. He insisted I looked for a Celica, since my mom had owned two and both went over 250K without any problems. One day I was cruising Autotrader and saw the perfect Celica. 1995 ST hatch. 82K miles. CAI and 16" rims. 6000 dollars. I printed it out and brought it to my dad. He called the guy and set up a time for him to go test drive it. He calls me when he is driving saying "Oh you wouldn't like this. It's twice what your Volkswagen is." He came home and said "He wanted too much. If he still has it in a week I will talk to him again." A week went by. A couple weeks. My parents were going to stay over at my Aunt's house one night and would be back the next morning. Saturday morning came and I woke up and started getting ready for my Guitar lesson. I was walking out to my VW when I heard something coming up the road. I turned to look and it was that Celica. It drove past my house and I said "Damn neighbor bought my F'ing car!!" right after this I heard something coming back. There was that Celica again. In reverse. Into my driveway. I looked and it was my mom with a huge smile on her face. She got out and said "I bet that pissed you off!" I couldn't speak. I was so happy. I was looking it over and fell in love again. The starter was crap and I had to jump-start it to get to my lesson, but I didn't care. I loved it. It's look has changed, but it is still my baby. I still get the butterfly-feeling when I walk out to it every morning (when its clean that is).

Note my Sig.

I worked at a campground when I was younger, and I distinctly remember that it was a warm spring day and absolutely beautiful outside and I was at work outside. I think at the time I was 16.....not totally sure. I just remember I didn't even have my license though.

My dad called up my cell and said to me, "Corey, I just found your perfect car.", "I can't remember what it was......maybe a Supra or something, I'm not totally sure.....its got the same shape and it has the 4 headlights like you like on your VW's. But its a Toyota, not a VW so I don't know if you'll like it, but I'll come pick you up so you can see this thing".

So I went on a break at work and drove for about 15 minutes where he said it was. We pulled up to it and I knew that it was all mine. Such a sexy and sleek looking car, and at the time I was looking at cheaper cars and VW's, so the damn thing looked like an exotic to me. Of course, I knew nothing about the 6th generation Celica back then, and just knew that people would think i was cool to drive such a nice looking car....haha. So after my dad took it for a test drive we were both blown away how much fun it was, so I took my hard-earned money and bought it that day.

It had 145,000 miles when I bought it 4 years ago, and since then I've put it through tons of unforgiving driving and commuting and put at least 40-50,000 miles on it without a single problem. I've only ever had a minor tune up done, and replaced the spark plugs. Other than oil changes and topping off fluids, I havent done a thing to it as far as maintainence is concerned.

To this day I'm amazed at what a great car it is. smile.gif

i fell in love with my car 12 years ago..lol. My grandparents live no more than 10 min driving from my house, so we always go over to spend time with them. When i was about 7 or 8, their neighbour came home with his brand new car. It was a 94 GTS. I fell inlove with it right then and there. Every time i would go over to their house i would look out the window at it for at least 20 min. Then, i completely forgot about it. Their neighbour kept it in his garage for awhile barely bringing it outside. Then, around my 18th b-day, i bought my 87 supra that died on me like..2 months after i bought it. So we got sick and tired of having the supra, my moms van, my dads grandprix, and my sis' car all in the driveway. So we moved the supra over to my grandparents place and put a FS sign on it. I would go back every week or so to move the car's position so it looks like some ones been driving it. When i was moving it one day, i saw my grandparents nieghbour had a FS sign on his car too. So i went over and took a look at it. I told my parents about it, told em i would go 50/50 on the price with them. Then i hadda go to Waterloo for the weekend(near where Lissa lives) for my school's Robotics meet. So i was in the pits, hangin out, doin a lil bit of work on the robot and i got a call on my cell. My parents told me that they have somethin shiny and red in the driveway for me when i get home. So since i was 7 or 8, ive loved my car.

And, best thing was, when i bought it, it had 120xxxKM on it(very low) all original, original owner with a 3 inch thick booklet of receipts and bills for it, and the only problem was, the sunroof leaked a little bit, i had some bondo cracks at the bottom of the passanger side rear bumper and a bit of rust on the passanger side rear wheel well. Also my volume knob was missing from the radio.

Aww this thread makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

I was 17, I had no car because I was sharing my grandmothers 97 Toyota Camry and an old man hit me from the side speeding (60 in a 45) and bent the frame of the car. My Uncle worked for Toyota at the time (now for Lexus). I went on auto trader just browsing Toyotas to see what I liked, I came across the 6th gen. I loved it, I found a picture of one and sent it to my mom and said I want to wait until I find one of these this is the car I want. So on a Friday after school my mom was like Listen your Uncle found a nice corolla for you and we’re going to pick it up today. I was furious. I did not want a corolla. So we drive over to Toyota and my mom fills out the paperwork. My uncle was like come outside I’ll bring the corolla around and you can test drive it; they just washed it in the back. So I was grateful that I was actually getting a car, kinda pissed still that it was a rolla. I’m standing on the side walk and this red 95 Celi comes riding up my uncle walked out and I was like OMG! WHO’S CAR IS THAT?! He hands me a key and said My goddaughter’s. I cried. Seriously cried… jumped up and down and cried. Then of course I drove it around RT 9, and took her home.

I always wanted a car thats a bit rare, different then the rest and with sufficient power.
Looking at cars like the Toyota MR2, Honda Integra Type R which looked a bit plane, i came across a Celica. Was love @ first sight. But it was a ST and not the right color (Black is the only color for me) So after owning 2 cars and a search of 18 months I found my dream car. With only 80k miles on it in 11 years.

i was actually saving up for an is300... i couldn't afford one yet... but @ that time i never knew what a 6th gen was... then one random day i thought... hm... if the current celi started in '00 and the ones with pop up headlights ended in 93... i wonder what was inbetween... then when i searched online, i saw some pics of the 6th gen and fell in love with it...

after a bit more than half a yr of searching i finally found one (although it's not the colour i wanted) and had it shipped over. all my friends said i was crazy/stupid for buying it before ever looking @ it in person... i thought i was too... but after searching for sooo long i just couldn't resist...

then the first day it arrived i remember it was snowing and there in the bond shed under a light sheet of snow was my first car. i couldn't drive it yet because it was in bond but after i week it was finally sitting in my driveway. i was soooooooooo happi when i finally was able to sit in it and was driving it to do all my inspections and stuff done hah

the car is slow and i'm getting owned by insurance... but i still luv it... the girls luv it too hah

I remember when I got my celica - we had looked for 6 months. I didnt think I was ever going to get one. I thought my dad was just all talk. He went down on Saturday to look at one and wouldnt take me cuz he was tired of me just wanting whatever one I saw. So he came back and was like "natalie this one is too nice for you" so i begged and said "thats not fair" so him and my mom talked it over and they bought it the next weekend - 8,500 cash! I couldnt drive it home though because it was a stick and I hadnt learned how to drive a stick yet. I remember looking in the rear view mirror of the honda I was driving and watching my dad drive my car...i was overwhelmed with excitement! He took me to the Park N Ride that night to learn to drive it and we got in a huge argument cuz I couldnt get a hang of it just right so I took it out the next day without him knowing and taught myself on the streets.

i had been scouting for a nice car for a few weeks when i saw the celica for the first time while on my way to school, it wasnt exactly love at first sight but i thought it was a pretty nice car. days later i forgot about the celica and had my sights at prelude instead, i searched for some info and stuff about it but my mom kept saying that she didn't like it, "well, i dont give a ****"
however she insisted me to take a look at this 7g celica, nice car but way too expensive, she kept saying that i should think about it. i was beginning to think that i'd get a lil contribution from them so i was really exited about the car.
in december it was time to make up my mind, i'd realized that the 7gc wasnt going to happen so i went back to the prelude, again mom said to check out a celica, 6g this time, a bit grumpy i took a look at it and wasn't too exited, prolly bc she was right and i wrong about it:P. Although the more i searched about it the more i slowly changed my mind in favour to it over the prelude. after looking for a celica to buy i finally found a suitable one, a good price, good looking with quite a few extras and being close to where i live (might've been the one i saw on my way to school) we asked if we could take it for a spin and he said that i could have it for three days. so i had plenty of time to get to know her wink.gif.
the first things i was really impressed by was the interior and the a$$, i wasn't too fond of the front (preparing to be flamed) but i've learnt to like it, especially after installing the bodykit

and well here i am, i bought the car the next time i spoke to the owner

Edit: i'll prolly edit this tomorrow, until then have some indulgence with my grammar and spelling

Very interesting to read all these stories, and yes i read every one smile.gif well heres my story
when i was around 14 i already set my eyes on 7gc, and knew from then i wanted that car. So for years i dreamed of owning a 7gc. then 3 years later i realized ive never seen a 6gc before, so after reasearching it and seeing a pic of 1999 gt hatch, i automatically decided this is it, f*** te 7gc i want the 6gc. thats when i became determined to buy a car. So for a straight year working 35-40 hours a week, saving every damn penny i earned. My mom from the very beginning told me "you want a car so badly, work and buy one, trust me you will probably appreciate it more" So finally i had a little more than 5000 and decided i need a car before next semester, i am not taking a 2 hour bus ride every morning for a whole semester again. So that morning sometime in august 2005, i drove with my mom to some dealerships, found some accords, civics, integras, but nothing i wanted. Then at the toyota dealership the guys there said they actually just got a celica in! immediatley i told them i want to see it! then there it was my 96 gt hatch in the corner in the very back of the building hidden by 2 rav 4s. it was there only for one day. guy said celicas dont last, and they sell extremely fast. at that moment i said i want it. and i bought it, did the paper work and brougt it home. and to this day im still in love with her biggrin.gif

Well, what drove us to buy our 6GC was that my wife commented how she liked how they look, and me having owned an 89 Celica at the time of purchase knew how reliable they are. So after about a month of searching, including a drive (from just outside of Philly in NJ) to Fairfax VA for a look at a 94 and to Kingston NY for a look at a 96 (both horrible dead ends) I happened upon our Red 99 on eBay for a Buy It Now of $7500. The owner called me after an email, an old guy who just didn't have the mobility to get in and out, and after a short call I clicked the buy it now button.

Fast forward to 5 days later, my wife and I were on the way to Hanover PA to pick up the car. We pull up to the house and it was like love at first sight. Clean, red, did I mention clean?? I spent the first day driving from Hanover through back roads around Gettysburg to Waynesboro to visit the in-laws, then back to NJ on the highway. Loved every second of it. It was a beautiful day, July 7th 2005. The air was fresh, it was not too warm out, so the windows were down and the sunroof open. Never will I regret buying this car.

well i have always liked the way the celica looked but i never payed to much attention to the 6gc until i started watching initial d an anime based on drifting. Well after watching acouple of episodes my friends informed me tha the arcade game was here at tthe local mall so i wantted to check it out. when i got there i had to choose a car to use and for those that dont know when you start playing you have the option of buying sort of a memory card that saves your progress throughout the game. Anyway after dicussing it with my friends i got an st205 for the fact tat it was all wheel drive and its not a popular car to use. so i purchased my car a silver 5 speed gt4.
From then on playin with the car in game was really enjoyable and i was different from the normal and well the st205 is just a great car. well anyway fast forward about a year and half and i wa able to buy my own car the hand me down accord wasent bad but it wasent mine. one day driving to school i cross this highway and there some dealerships on this highway and i saw it from the corner of my eye. later that day as soon as i got of school i went to check it out. and it was perfect silver just like the game but a coupe instead ofa hatch but considering i like to be dirffrent i had never seen a coupe all the 6gc i have ever seen till tha point were hatches. Took it to my mecanic nothing was wrong with it other than it was slow lol and a few days later before new years i bought my car. It would be better if i was actually driving an st205 just like the game but this is close enough.

I came home after soccer practice. It was my bday too. The celi was right there. Then I drove it illegally around my neighborhood. I was so proud tho. The day before we looked at a 240sx, which ran like ass and I didnt knw about sr20s and swaps, and then I saw the celica. It was meant to be,

I was so stoked that my very 1st car was convertible... and also one that looked very sleek and that was white... Basically my 1st Car dream car lol
