what are all of the wires running off of that? the ones that dont go into plugs, what do i do with them?
(one is teal and is labeled fan relay, one is green/yellow and labeled ac switch, one is brown and labeled stop lamp (i think thats in that area, ill go check again in a second)

more pics of harness

First pic is the ignitor or something to do with the ignition. You can't start your car without it... pretty important.

the 1st pic is you resistor pack for your injectors.

that wiring is really poorly done, and you will have nothing but problems with those crimps. you can even tell that one of them came loose already on the reisitor pack.

i wuld take those crips and blue spicers out and solder and heat shrink everything.

all a normal part of the swap. get those thoughts out of your head and keep setting small goals for yourself that you can finish.

well everone has convinced me to do it the right way since apparently this engines previous two owners and the people they had work on the harness didnt.. im going to solder/heat shrink the connections, and hopefully in the process fix wires that lead to nowhere

I hate to tell you this but there is no way you will have that car running by sunday. Also its better to wait to put you engine in and hook the harness up to the engine before you put it in.

You need to bust out the wiring diagram and see where those wires are supposed to go to if you are gonna do your own harness. From the looks of it I would doubt if all those wires are going to the right places.

Oh boy.

Okay, #1, if you're going to be soldering be sure you're doing it right, you need a good iron, flux paste, and the right kind of solder. Otherwise your connections will be crappy and give you more trouble (I've repaired many harnesses with "soldered" connections that were just scarey).

Resistor pack, there's one wire that carries power TO it, and four wires that carry power back. The one wire that has power going to it is the larger of the four on the harness (normally they are black with an orange stripe) and that wire goes to the one on the resistor pack that is a different color than the rest. I think the white one (and the rest are black). The order of the other four doesn't matter.

The fan relay wire wasn't hooked up, that's pretty common for people to do. Your fan will run all the time with that configuration. (That wire comes from the fusebox plug, right?) Or, buy a fan temp switch from an ST and install that on your 3SGTE, and hook that wire up.

The other two wires don't worry about, at least for now.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU tweak.

chucky did most of the soldering and he does it pretty much for a living so i trust him.

and you mean there will be air always coming out of the vents? will i still be able to control fan speed?

what is this fan temp switch from an st? shouldnt i have that already on my st?

all of my wires are the same size and i have no black orange frown.gif

originally, it looks as if the solid black wire coming from the fuel injectors was used on the white spot in the resistor pack. but i have traced the wires and red/blue/black/yellow all go to individual injectors, leaving me to believe that the red and blue wire is the power wire.

it seems to have been wired incorrectly before though, with a million butt splics and wire taps, this harness was surely hacked up a bit, but i have removed every piece of plastic on this baby and soldered it/heatshrinked it!

umm we covered this over AIM, remember? wite wire is power, so connect it to the white wire on the pack. then connect the black wires together, the order dosnt matter.
