hey if you were selling a Celica in Decent shape with a 3sgte in it, how much could you expect to get for it?The reason i ask is because my dad is leary about helping me pay for it because one he thinks that i wouldnt keep the car after the swap is done i would just turn around and wouldnt want and i wouldnt get my money out of it, (like selling it) Which i know people are ALWAYS looking for cars like ours or Modded cars in general but could ya'll help me get some proof that a engine swap is worth it. Thanks

Swapped Celica's sell for around $5000-$8000 usually, give or take some extra money depending on circumstances.
You wouldn't make tons of money selling one, you'd probably break even or take a small hit on what you'd make back. Most people who swap do it because they love the car and just want a better experience, so putting a value on something like that is difficult to quantify. |

Not to be a wet blanket, but usually you won't get out what you put in when you sell a car. If you want to do the swap (or any mods pretty much) do it cause you want to and you love the work. The only type of swap that you can usually make money at is if the car comes with a blown engine, you guy it for $500, and then put $2500 into a swap and sell it for $6000. But if you do it to a car you could sell right now for $5000, do $2500 worth of work, and still sell for the same $6000 you lose money.
If you want to do the swap (or put any money in) I wouldn't plan on doing it trying to make money. -------------------- ![]() psalm 69 |

youll never really get back what you put into a car. all the sutff we do to our cars (big or small) add up quick. do a swap if you really love your car and plan to keep it forever. if thats not how you feel, just sell it right now, and buy something faster to fill your need for power.

I agree with Lagos again on this one. Why would you do a swap, then sell it. The reason I'm still on the track to swap my car and not sell is that I plan on using it as a cost-effiecient and reliable way to go fast. If you're not spending tons of money on it and doing your own work, chances are you could break even by selling it to the right person. But usually the more desirable the package, the higher dollar you'll get for it.....but don't expect much if its a totally stock coupe other than a 3SGTE.
I'm not going to soak tons of money into any one thing on my car, just trying to get it to where its in much better shape and can perform as well as I've always felt it should from the day I bought it. And if I were to ever sell my car the way it is now I probably wouldn't get nearly as much as its worth to me, so its on with the swap and enjoy having the Celica for a very fun car. ![]() Once thats done, I'll have access to a reliable daily driver so that the Celica is only used when its appropriate. It depends on your goals....if its taking alot of persuasion from parents then you should probably just wait until YOU have the money for it, and not worry if they approve or not. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
