I would find out the mileage first. Maybe have them do some sort of porting on the head before they install it, for a little more oomph. I think that is what I shall do. I found an obd1 7A for $500 with 6K miles on it.

You can do it!!

yeah well i'm not gonna buy it unless i know the mileage.

the only thing i'm concerned about is i've done some research on this place and apparently when they install, they're not too careful with the fenders... i read someone had very scratched up fenders afterwards on his new paint job, and another thing i heard was that they're not careful with the wiring, and one guy had a lot of wiring problems afterwards, he brought it back and they refused to fix it...

so if i could find a reputable place to install the engine, i would buy it from them, but have it installed elsewhere.

more likely it's off a 5th gen. seeing that there are 90x more 5th gens than 6s.

btw, what's wrong with your current motor?

on a side note, i found somebody selling a 5th gen alltrac with a blown motor. he sent me an e-mail with pics and said he found a local shop that has a 3s for sale for $900 and install for $800 (into the alltrac, not 6gc). the shop is called Continental or something and still have yet to find where they're located.

anyway, until i get a 3s, you can have my 5sfe (only has 101K kms)..

see that's the thing, i don't know what's wrong with my engine. it could be something pretty serious & more expensive to fix than getting a different engine, or it could be something very, very simple. but i've been to soo many shops already, and spent like $100's of dollars for people to tell me there's nothing wrong, so i'm looking at my options. i thought this was a pretty sweet deal if i do in fact need a new engine.
