im inclined to call shens untill a timeslip is posted, its just really hard to believe, sorry man.

but like you said it doesnt matter what we believe, its what you know, so if you post proof to shut us all up, well gladly take our foots out of our mouths, but for now, i just find it real hard to believe.

I feel you 100%. I posted only this site awhile back and got flamed about the ST being TOO slow. I'm like "Duh, I have to drive one everyday!" It was like members were so into calling my car slow that they didn't even post anything relevant to my topic. However, not everyone on this site are ST bashers though. And its not so that ST owners care what others think, its more about, "Hey I'm on a 6g Celica site and they are not supporting the way they should. They're not saying " Hey Nate. You can do this and this to make your car a honda killer." If I wanted to be reminded of how slow my car was I would go on a honda or mustang site and talk to those guys. Like it was once said, if you don't like the post or have something positive to say then don't post.

Another thing about my car is when i race it, the gears top out 5-6 mph faster than most ST's, i'v talked to other people with ST"s and their gears are:
2nd gear up to 55mph and 3rd gear up to 80
my gears- 2nd gear up to 60mph and 3rd gear up to 86mph

can any body explain to me why this is?

whats mildly amusing about all this, is that most of the negative comments seem to be coming from other ST owners

Where are the negative comments? Surely not on this post. You nor anyone else can deny the fact that Celica ST's are sorely looked upon. The point I want to make is PLEASE stop telling people there car is slow. It could be fast to them. They might even agree that it is slow. But what is mildly amusing is the fact that when some posts a track time(at least that I've seen) people with more experince don't offer advice on how to go faster. Like in dudes case. If you guys think his time is slow or not believe then dismiss the thought of posting that comment and offer advice on how he can achieve or exceed that time.

the size of your rims and tires can thow the speedo off by a few mph, giving you an incorrect speedo reading.

i dont think thats the case, because when i got my rims and tires put on i had a friend of mine drive beside me and tell me how fast he was going and we were going the same speed. i got the rims and tires to be as close to the stock size as i possibly could. also it was like that before i got rims and tires.

eventually my car will have everything a gt has and more (3sgte) but id still rather have a gt than an st.

every time i look at the back of my car and see the lack of the gt badge a part of me dies on the inside, even with a 3sgte under the hood.

That's funny!! laugh.gif Go on ebay and buy you a badge. Who will ever know. lol. But, I know how you feel though. I know this is off topic but is a GT that has a 3sgte(stock) faster than a ST that's had a 3sgte(stock) swap?

i mean, the st will be lighter so it will be faster, but when you have the same motor, the difference is negligible.

not to mention i dont know many ST owners with a 3sgte that will keep the stock rear breaks, which is one of the main differences between the two cars.

the rest is small things like the light around the keyring, rear windshield whiper, fog lights in later years, etc.

This topic is a borderline troll... It does not matter which motor you have, they're both slow and in the same neighborhood in terms of power.

You may as well argue which car is more of a sports car - a Camry, or a Corolla... The answer is : neither. Obviously a 5s is a bit more beefier, however, it would take the same amount of work on either the 5s or the 7a to make it produce competent amounts of HP.

For the GT owners, I wouldn't go around justifying paying a few grand more for a GT badge and like 20-30 more horses / torque. That's pretty much the biggest difference between the ST/GT, besides some dealer options.

on the contrary, id be willing to say that the power is the least important option of the st vs gt choice.

the gt is just a nicer car overall, each of those "little dealer options" goes a long way when combined to create a more comfortable car.

sitting in an st and sitting in a gt might still be sitting in two celicas, but its definitly not the same to me, and ive sat in both.

List the glaring differences between the two, because I fail to really see any. I've sat in both as well, and, it's a clone of my ST with alloy wheels and rear disc brakes. I have power everything, leather interior, and all the extra crap on mine, it makes little difference which model you own.

Hey I was just curious as to how the gt makes for a more comfortable ride. I'm going to change my seats out and redo my whole interior so I can have a luxury sports car.
