i own both a 93 5th gen GT and a 97 6th gen llimited edietion st. I know that the 6th gen is a hell of a lot lighter than the 5th gen, but while driving both cars, the 6th gen feels soo much faster. it feels it accelerates incredibly faster. i dont know why. i know its alot lighter, but not THAT much lighter. the 5th gen gt has 135 Horses. my 6thgen st has what.. 100? 35 hp difference, yet the slower one seems so much faster. although the st maxes at 110 on the freeway, and the gt goes over 120+ (speedometer stops at 120 but pin goes way over) so anyone know why it feels faster? is it just in my head?> 6th gen looks alot hotter though!

QUOTE the st has 115 hp. but i think your's has 5 less since its a 97. Where is the rationality in that? a 7A is a 7A regardless of 6th Gen production year. I do believe the 6th Gen is a light car, but 110 on the freeway? Please, I have done faster -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Please, I have done faster hes right (except 7a has 110hp in94/95), the 7a had a few changes (obd2 adn emissioin i believe) and max hp dropped 5hp to 105hp in 96. as for the 5gGT v 6gST, my car is actually quicker than my brothers 90 manual GTS (heavy sob for such a little car lol) and i have an automatic, but i do have rear seats/spare and other stuff removed. also, remember max hp isnt everything, an engine only puts out that max hp at WOT and at a certain rpm, the dynamics of cars is much more complex than people often simplify it to. *either way, your 6g shouldnt feel "soooo" much faster than your 5g. you might want to make sure its running on all 4 cylinders . The GT could have a compression problem. That's what wrong with my gf Monte Carlo. It has the 3.1, and she had a Lumina with the same 3.1 that would kick the crap out of her Monte. It's just because of compression for her.

hmm thanks for the input guys
both cars are bone stock also, also, another thing, my 5thgen doesnt have a rev limiter on it. i let another 5thgen owner drive it and he was amazed that the car didnt stop at 110 but kept goign up and beyond 120. does this mean the previous owner maybe removed it? hmm anyways thanks guys! |
