SOME localities are cracking down and ticketing for non-stock exhaust, non stock lights, ect. in responce to street racers. check your local and state laws 1st before you get a ticket.

too bad you're not local, i have a 2.5" inlet Magnaflow Race series for sale.

Mufflers have nothing to do with smog... you can pass smog with NO muffler... so long as there's a cat.

actually, the law in mass now states that if you modify your exhaust in ANY way, it will fail.
trust me, i got pulled a couple months ago for "modifyed exhaust"
i actually talked to the cop about it, cause i wanted to know exactly what was wrong, cause i bought the magnaflow with the intention of it now being overly loud for that reason.
he said, any aftermarket exhaust is illegal in the state of MA.
now, how strictly they inforce it where you are in MA is a crap shoot.

i bought a universal one off ebay, and i got kinda lucky, cause i went to get it put on and ended up with a 2.5" cat-back system and its got a great deep tone. then the day after i took out the silencer and it had an even deeper tone!

Now, are there any mufflers out there that are good sounding BUT, not to loud?...or civic/ricey sounding? I see people have mentioned Megaflow?? BUT, there's someone with a late ' 90 prelude that has a dual megaflow exhaust...and it buzzes at high rpm's...and it is really annoying mad.gif

Any suggestion?

smile.gif I had a full (almost) custom stainless system put on last week - down pipe / de-cat and back box....centre section next month . It looks good (4'Slash) and sounds incredibly loud- it pops while downshifting laugh.gif . You guys seem quite hard done to by the cops over there , i've never ever been stopped for any modification , i've had 5 quite heavily modified cars. The cops here seem more bothered about important issues rather than some guy who likes to spend money on his car . I get the impression your cops reckon anyone who modifies a car is a street racer ? that sucks.....
