ok my special friend ran into a celica supra, i believe 88 or 86, it has a 5mge i believe, its a 5m lol forgot the rest, i can get the whole car (or front clip) for about 500-600 and it runs.. now i poped the hood and it looks like one of those engines thats been in a junk yard for a lil while, so needs some cleaning up but other than that the bay is perfect.. now im pretty sure its a v6 and sits vertical unlike the celi however it didnt seem soo big, so maybe it will fit into the celica?? the rear of the car was kinda screwed up nothing to bad but i dont think u can rrestore the whole car.. but the entire front from doors up is mint.. i mean not any rust and paint is really good.. so anyone think this is possible?

also found a 4age silvertop in an mr2, if anyone is interested

sounds interesting... you sure its a V engine? i thought it would be a 2.8liter Inline6 DOHC.

theres only one way to find out if it fits... do the swap! biggrin.gif
i think it'll be a bit too big (too long going into the firewall) thats what i think.

it'll be really cool if you get the motor and play around with it.

and no its not a V6 its an INLINE 6

if its a celica supra..if it has a 5mge, then swap either a 1jzgtte, or a 7MGETE..2 easiest swaps to do into the car. Also you could go 6mgte. You could 2J swap it, but i wouldnt waste your $

But, if its a celica..with the 22R, keep the 22R, rebuild it, try and find a 20R head and throw it on. Stupidly bulletproof motor that way. and ur askin $500-700 for a 20VST?? here i can buy a 20V ST, wiring harness and ECU from a japaneese used auto parts place for $800CND.

EDIT: You sure that its a 20V? It coule be a 4agze

the mr2 engine says 4A-GE in the bay where mine says 5S-FE so i kno its a 4age, but like i said idk anything about that motor..

the 5m-ge is a celica supra, thats what i found..

is 500us to expensive for the engine?? its a whole clip, not jus the engine

the mr2 is in bad shape where the trunk is behind the motor and in the front a little bit, the front can be fixed idk about the back but the bay is perfect, untouched

you should read the stickies, they cover the fact that a supra engine swap not matter what year is no where near feasable without 15gs in your pocket and tearing the cars frame apart.

as for the silver top (please correct me if im wrong) the silvertop 4age 20v and the black top MAP 20 valve were never offered in the america vehicles, the red and blue tops were though. so chances are what you saw was not a silver top.

well i read the stickies, all i saw was 2jz wasnt fitting, the reason for this post was a simple question, the swap wouldnt work due to the fact its rwd and that would mean i would need an alltrac for parts which i can get for about 2k so that wouldnt be to hard and it 15k is def. worth it for the celica to be inline 6 rwd.. yea i kno buy a supra.. but thats not my style.. who has a rwd celica.. yea thought so not to many, who has a supra.. anyone with money.. see my point? if the celica was rwd it would be my dream car so why not make it? anyways its not happening and also idk about the mr2 hense why i posted it.. i also said i thought it was silver cause the valve cover was silver meaning I have no idea.. so therefore wasnt stating it was, i said i didnt kno, so therefore i did nothing wrong in posting this

I donno, but if I purchase a 80~ Celica Supra, I'd detail it and keep it stock looking and shiny...

I mean at the end it's the "Classic" Celica, and it's the only generation of Celica Supra with that awesome red logo behind your driver side window...

biggrin.gif Actually some of those Celi-supras came with the 6mge engines. Theres one for sale too at a junk yard for like 600$ No title no keys near my place. If it at least had a key I would go and take it, but since parts are hard to find for it now its kinda pointless. The rear and front looks decent, but the windshiled and interior looks like crap. Seroiusly tho, those 6mges N/A can take on 5.0 Mustang. I've seen a heavly tuned 6mge celi-supra beat a 5.0 Mustang like candy. Its scary how older cars can beat newer cars like it was nothing.

5mge is out of the early 80s..like 82-83 supras/celica supra, 6mge and 6mgte are out of 84-86 supras.

6ms are beastly engines..they are almost nuke proof if you build em right. Theres a guy from the toronto supra club that has a 85 supra with a built up 6m, big turbo, some aftermarket 7m internals aswell as 6m internals, 5m head, 2jz coilpack, etc..the guys pushin 850WHP on it. He downshifts and lets off fireballs that will blind you..lol He running it at 30PSI of boost right now and he said he could easily take it up higher but he doesnt think the piping could take it.

so you're asking if you can swap this Celica Supra engine into your 6gc? The answer is no. Same reason as the 2jz engine, width and it's coming from a RWD setup. Celica Supra's were RWD, that's why the engine was mounted the way it is. Would be a pretty fun project car in itself tho.
