Hello its me again with problems. 2 nights ago my lil bro mr2 died downtown dallas due to his alternator crapped out. he called me and ask me if my 5sfe alt. would work, i said i think so, so i took mine out and went with a member here, Scott. As we arrived we took out his alternator (which was a 4hr of pain) cuz we were limited on tools. We pair each other alt. and it looked the same except the plug for power was difffernt. Got angry, cuz i thought it was a waste of time but we had an idea to take it apart and see if we can swap the plug part and yes it worked. i put it back up with my alternator and its running perfect now. But now this is the problem Scott told me he had a spare, which turn out he didn't. We have a dead turbo mr2 sitting at a garage and was wondering since its a 100amp alt. would it harm my car? It should mount the same for my car i think.

Won't hurt anything. A lot of people here would kill for a 100amp alternator. If you can get it to work go for it.

Won't hurt it at all. Just gives you some more reserve power. Alternators don't run at full output all the time, they only put out as much power is required. Just remember a bigger alternator will take more hp to turn under full load.

it looks like that except the mr2 is upside down. it looks the same tho, i havent take out the alt. out of the mr2 yet. Im having a hard time to get under the car and pull that piece of **** out. I think mr2 are a bitch to work on. i have to either try to take an axle or the whole exhaust out to take out that alt. Sob.

look in the phone book under "automotive - electrical" there should be tons of listings for starters, alternators, electrical repair/parts/services. Call around and ask for prices as well as what output they run at. Also if they are new or rebuilt.
