The Celica is very low geared. I love it for that most of the time. It gives you good power off the line. I can outrun people who have more powerful engines just because of my gearing. That is, unless they want to do more than stop light to stop light, or over the 1/8 mile. That's about a 100meter race. Bigger wheels can gear it up a little if that's what your wanting. Do a little search on it for that.

Toronto has a fast lane? So is there a speed limit on it? Why cant the US get a highway like the autobahn, statistically speaking the autobahn is safer to drive on then any US highway wink.gif

I would like to see these stats. It is a less % wrecking, or less wrecks in general. I don't really believe you.

That is about right. I run around 4100 RPM at 120 kph and then it seems to increase by about 300 RPM for every 10 kph above that. My standard driving speed is between 120 and 130, I feel that the engine is happiest running at that speed. Also has lots of power left if I want to step on it.

yea.. just that i was used to 120km/h around 3000 or less... and i usually drive about 160 for my 1hr drive to school... and @ about 5k rpm... it really hurts my gas mileage =(

My GT (3S-GE) runs 120km/h @ 3500 RPM 3300 RPM
I thought the gear of the US GT were longer then those of the EU GT!

Hey guys,

Well, since all this talk about rpm..

My car get's to 4000 rpm at about 80mph in fifth gear. Is that suppose to not be normal?

Everything is stock.. I have never done anything to it at all..

Also, is this good.. This is how I driver it normally..

first gear, I can get about 15-20mph at 3000rpm
second gear, I can get about 30mph at 300rpm
third gear, I can get about 40mph at 3000rpm
fourth gear, I can get about 60mph at 3000rpm

When my belt was loose, it needs about 4000RPM in 5th to go exactly 80MPH
Now I've replaced the belt, tightened it accordingly... RPM dropped to about 3850RPM in 5th going 80MPH

Its not a full "fast lane"..usually it breaks down like this

Fast Lane (usually around 120KPH+) | Mid speed lane (105-120KPH) | Slow/Exit lane (100KPH or less)

Pretty much when you are in the fast lane ur duin 120 or more..i was in that lane going to Guelph (west of Toronto) and i was gettin tail gated by people when i was duin 150km/h...the limit on the 401 is 100km/h..average speed most people go on the 401 is like 120km/h..even on highways like the DVP or 427 its suppost to be 90, but average speed for DVP is 110km/h and 120km/h for the 427.

Alrite... atleast its normal... I've been in some cars where they practically red line before the change gears.. so yea as long as its normal then thats cool. thanks
