"Usual Disclaimer"

Well, today, I decided to turn the short ram that I bought from UrbanDork into a CAI. I noticed that the sticky said stuff about cutting the fuse box and stuff like that. I didn't like that at all. But, don't lose hope everybody, it's easy as 1, 2, 3 to move the fuse box to a different screw hole. I didnt' have to cut anything to make my CAI. Picture are in order of process.

Yea....That's our factory CAI Box, ahemm.. with 4 tiny holes in the bottom.

Went to Advance auto parts, got an exaust elbow 2.5" and a exaust straight pipe 2.5", 2 exaust clamps, a that black rubber coupler, and a can of 500 degree aluminum color spray paint.

First picture of the S pipe, half of the straight pipe, and the elbow pipe. Fuse box and battery set aside.

And a third picture to show elbow

Now where down into the Fender where you will see the bottom of the elbow pipe, then elbow pipe fitted into the tapered end of the straight pipe with about three inches not tapered, then with the filter unit on.

And the filter unit

There isn't much light, but I took a video for the sound. Just started it up and gave it a few pointless revs. Listen to the end of the video when i shut the engine off, the CAI just whitles the last bit of air out.

Now, time to put the engine bay back together. Here is where some people cut the fuse box so it'll fit.

Here is the front relocation hole for the fusebox. Just carefully, but with strength, put a socket, extension, and ratchet on the bolt, put it in the front hole, and strech it over to this hole and screw it down! Notice where the battery tray is if you can't find the hole i am talking about.

Then, from your stock intake setup, take one of the longer bolts out. Find a rubber spacer, cut it accordingly, around 1"-1.5", and slide it on the long bolt. Put it in the appropiate fuse box mount (one closest to the steering wheel) and stretch it over and screw it in untill satisfied with the stiffness of the fuse box.

Carefully put your battery back in, and bam, your done, custom CAI. I'm sure someone could find a shortram for a civic for pretty cheap off of ebay, all you need is that S pipe.

Here are final picture of engine bay. Thanks for Reading, ask if you have questions. I had fun today.

That's a nice write up. Good job using a little ingenuity. A suggestion: In the pics showing the filter, if that's the plastic floor under the nose area, you can cut a hole in that and easily fab up a metal scoop that hangs under the valence to direct a little more air in there.

Thanksk everybody. I thought about zipties, but after looking around the engine bay on that side, i saw that screw hole and decided i would make that work one way or another.

Oh yeah, when removing the stock CAI box that i took a picture of up there, there are three bolts. On models with the fog lights, remove the driver side fog light and you'll see one. Remove the undercovering right up to the wheel, you don't have to take all of that off, and you'll see another, There is one right up on top, you can only feel the back of the screw if you shove your hand up around the box on the otherside. So, basically, it's a size 10 (daaa), and you have to do it blind.
