im thinkin about it. If i get one im gonna get the sparco one with sparco harnesses. They run for around $180cnd. Gotta do suspension and wheels first though.

they don't make them for the 6gc(at least i havn't found one yet)..you'd have to get one custom made

sparcos bar is freaking liek 350, def. not worth it, also i think u need a cage for theres, jus bolt em to the floor in the back, with a bar u have no back seats so why not bolt em where the back seat would be

Well this wekend I am getting the car measured so that the bar can be produced for half or less than the sparco bar. It gets better they are giving me a free bar just for letting them use my car to create the bar to be sold. If anyone is interested pm me and I will give you thier info after I have pics of the setup.

This bar goes from the pillar that the seatbelts are mounted to. One bar and no cage is required. The only drawback is that the seats won't recline back all the way and it would be hard to get into the back seat but if you have a hatch then you could just remove the back seat and lose some weight.

If your putting in harness' rip out back seat and put in rear strut bar, moutn from there and drop 50 pounds. strut bar anywhere 50 to 500$

Sounds tight. Keep updated on that, because I might be interested especially for a coupe.

This bar will be about 2' closer to the seats than a strut bar and for the coupes that don't need a strut bar this is a lot easier then messing up the rear dash or sheet metal.

the harness bar doens't only mount to the Bpillars

there is also 2 adjustable rods that mount onto the center tunnel in the center.....

ive seen 2 diff styles like that, 1 where it mounts to the center tunnel, and another with a length adjustable foot that you tighten to the floor or across to the other side of the car.

Like this..the gray areas show where the bar's re-enforcements go. Mad MS Paint skillz..lol

IPB Image the bottom one is what i mean about the floor brace..you can see it just beside the b-pillar.

What are the lower bars attached to? I would think the rear bolt on the seat but where else? If anywhere else wouldn't you have to reinforce the sheet metal? These are things that the place that is making it should know but I want to know also so they can't BS me. Also that is a really nice setup.

Well the guy that is making my bar took some measurments today. The bar is going to bolt to the seat belt pillars and loop down a little and back. The lower supports are going to bolt to the center hump under the center console. With the center console out you can get to the air bag control and a small bracket. Where the control unit bolts to the hump there are 4 bolt holes and with those and a flat piece it will allow for no cutting of the interior. I should have some unfinished pics this weekend. So far it looks great and I got to see some other work he did for a bar for the WRX and it looked pretty good. After he finishes this one I will find out what he wants for the whole thing and what he would charge for shipping.

OK so on to the free custom harness bar.(Just for me, for helping pioneer this to be sold)
This is the bar as of yesterday with just tack welds.

Under the center console for the center support.
I am really impressed with the strength that this had with just tack welds. I should have it in next week with still 100% functioning stock seat belts. Oh and the back seat was only out to keep it from getting burnt. It will be back in there when the bar is finished.

i was thinkin about gettin a bar like that, but my friend stefan has 2 old 3" harnesses he bought from a stunt company for like $20 a peice cuz they have to throw them out after each stunt as a safety procausion, and im just gonna bolt em to the back seat. He told me when he had a set in his neon for solo racing he would bolt the lat belt in at the rear bolts holding the front seat down, then for the shoulder belts he bolted to his rear seat belt's bolt and after he was done racing he could just tuck the lat belts in under his sparco seat and then tuck the shoulder belts in under the back seat. i mean for $30 for two used once 4 3" fourpoint harnesses, theres no use in eleminating my back seats.

well i hope those arn't too old of harnesses because a racing seat harness (thats certified and passes the needed inspections) should be replaced every TWO years at the longest duration of time. the reason is because the webbing material used in the harnesses is damaged by UV light exposure and starts to "rot"

the harnesses were used in a movie shoot by a stunt crew, after every shoot, they take the harnesses out, they were used once..like..literaly..once ever..for 5 min..lol...and they were then put back into a box and into a stack of boxes at this studio near where i work. My friend went there to pickup somethin for his buddy and noticed them, the guy said they were used once, and he could take em for $10 a pop if he wanted, they would have been scrapped other wise. Stefan picked up 15 sets, sold 11 of them on ebay, kept 1 pair for his car and another pair for his brother's AE86. But, mikey the younger bro with the AE who i went 2 school with, gave up on the AE and they started their buisness..so the belts have been sittin for about half a year in Mikes room in the box doing nothing...they were gonna throw them in with the sale of their R32, but the guy who bought it didnt want them.

You might want to look into the bolting it to the rear seat bench area you will get seriously hurt if you are in an accident of any kind. If the harness is mounted too low behind your shoulders and you hit something head on it wil cause the belts to pull your upper body down and possibly messing up your back. That being the same reason this bar is the next best thing to getting a full roll cage.

i'm just tellin ya there is a 2 year limit on harnesses for safty.....its your call and your butt through the window...
