so i bought this off ebay

Code Alarm CA-160

and i want to know how hard you think it would be to install
could i [with no electrical knowledge] or someone with little/basic electrical knowlegde attempt it?
i dont want to pay more to have it installed than it cost to buy it

[its a 2way lcd pager and the little car icon is a 7th gen]

Looks good, how much did u get it for?

And personally me, I would install it myself. Most of the wiring is in the ignition harness.

You will probably want to solder them if you want a good installation, but.. me personally, I just got some male/female connectors from radioshack, Electric tape, and a Crimper.

If you have no idea how to do it.. you might want to take it to a professional.. $50-$100 probably?

Did it come with a wiring diagram? I have a wire diagram for our celica, so if you choose to install it yourself, let me know

i ordered an audiovox prestige for $119 and they messed up my order so they offered to give me that one [they sell it for $150+like $15 shipping] for no extra charge

ive asked around and people around here want like $150-200 to install it which i dont like cause thats more than i paid for the alarm itself

there may be a wiring diagram in the chilton's manual but can you send me whatever you have anyway? my boyriends dad is an electrician, maybe if show him he might be able to do it

yeah its hard to say... Me and my dad installed my viper one... took about 12 hours.. Took a lot of time to locate wires.. and to solder them. Plus running wires and mounting the hardware. Not really difficult.. just time consuming..

Well, their Manual sucks. Did they include a wiring diagram where it tells you all the cables from the alarm? Like which one it goes to and such...

Here's the wiring diagram for your 97.

I have diagrams for other cars too, if u need them let me know also.

They are not too hard to do, but time consuming.
