why is the tubular crappy?

those cheapo ebay manifolds are well known across all the 3s related boards to look blingy, but be incredibly short on quality and consistansy.
crappy welds that crack in short time are just one of the design flaws of them.
theyre made of very thin material, which is NOT good for exhaust manifolds, where you actually wanna keep the heat IN.
even the ones that you can find that do have some form of bracing on them, are done very poorly.
you get what you pay for with them.
for an example of what a GOOD tubular exhaust manifold looks like, check out www.full-race.com
heres a couple pics of the full-race unit.

another thing about the full-race manifold is you get to choose the flange you want, so, if you wanna use a diffrent turbo. there is no need for an adapter.
as for the OP's question, any 2nd gen 3s manifold from a alltrac or mr2 will work.
you can find them on alltrac.net or mr2oc pretty often for ~40-50$.
ebay also.
