hey, i recently got a new pioneer premier DEH-P680MP head unit and i really like it.
when i was hooking it up there wasn't a blue cable to go to the antenna. so i left that hanging. but now my antenna doesn't go up when i switch it to radio. so anyways, i'm now noticing that the installation instructions say something about the blue & white wire that had a little remote label on it. they say: "To system control terminal of the power amp or Auto-antenna relay control terminal (max. 300mA 12V DC)" so i'm thinking maybe i want to hook that up to the blue antenna cable. does this sound like a good idea? or does this sound like a really really dumb thing to do? thanks in advance ny |

i think the Blue wire (remote) is for sending the signal to an amplifier when you are running subs. When installed a 12' sub for my friend, it would not work until i hooked up that blue wire to the remote terminal on the amplifier. So... my vote is that is not the antenna. I think it was more like a black plug thats separate from the wire harness. not 100% sure though.

The blue/white wire labeled remote will work just fine for your power antenna.

cool, thanks!
i'll give it a try with temporary electrical tape and see if it functions properly. hope the stereo really supports that auto antenna thing. if not i'll have to install a switch. |

ok, tried it yesterday and it worked, but the antenna is up whenever the head-unit is on (even if i'm playing a cd or using aux input). if that's the one flaw of this head unit then i can deal.
since i listen to the radio like twice a year, i've disconnected the relay so the antenna is down 100% of the time. but i'm going to install an antenna switch and some rca inputs in a project box soon. and that should take care of the issue (and look pretty cool). thanks again ny |
