genrally the experiences ive heard with cheap internet/ebay rotors is that they warp fast and crack fast too. the holes are drilled after casting, not cast into the rotor. real drilled rotors are cast like that and have a chamfer around the hole for strength and to help reduce the liklihood of cracking. but even good drilled rotors crack, my friends baer rings cracked pretty badly after a couple years and ive heard of porsches cracking the drilled rotors pretty regularly too.

slotted is a good compromise. you can get slotted rotors from pepboys or from a poweslot resller. i have powerslot on my car and theyre not bad, not much difference vs stock rotors unless its wet or im really mashing on the brakes in a panic situation.

I'd advise against running ANY cross drilled rotor on the street. I don't care what company they came from or how good the reputation is, they're GOING to crack. I have a buddy with a rather expensive Baer setup on his car, with only about 5K miles, and he's got stress cracks all over his rotors.

Just an FYI.

yep, i agree 100% that cross drilled isnt a good idea for street cars. you also loose braking surface for them and 99% of the time you're not stopping hard enough on the street to make a difference. slotted is more than ample for a street and light track car.

along with what everyone else said, you will get a humming sound that is noticable from the air passing though the holes while driving

I must be lucky then. I got a set on my Camry off ebay, and they work well. No noises, no warping and no cracks. Its been over a year since I put them on too.

likewise i love the ones on my car and my cousin got some ebay rotors for his sc300 front and back... he also got the metalic pads from napa (premium pads i think they were called) WOW they brake soooo much harder. I love the feel. btw, no cracks or anything and i think i may have pics of my rotors in my profile.

I also have had no problems with the ebay rotors..they brake alot harder and have no signs of stress cracks, the only thing they do is skweak under light braking.

bigal, some of the squeak may be due to the pads you are using heating up with those rotors and not cutting how they are supposed to. Try metalic pads.

I can explain why people say the cd/slotted rotors crack. The people who have them crack also have very high compression brake systems, so yes, that's expected. Make sense?? With the braking systems on the celicas, you'll be just fine. They look great and I haven't had any problems with mine. There are other people who already posted and say they don't have problems so go for it.
