Hello all in my 94 celica GT I have come to realize the front factory speakers are shot so, I am wondering what to buy. Keep in mind I have the 3 speakers per door system and I run my own headunit and amp..
-My problem is I'd like to get a new "3" speaker system that would fit in the doors , like this system http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_compone...php?comp_id=121 however, the midrange speaker is too deep to fit in the factory holding location.... -Has anyone actually used an aftermarket 3speaker system and fit a mid range in the stock location???? THere just is not any room for something with a big magnet on its backside...... -Or are we forced to go with a 2 speaker system and only replace the tweater and woofer??? -But really if you can't go with the "3 speaker" replacement how much good is it to have a little tweater mounted up in the corner of the door like on a "2 speaker" system??? I think its the midrange thats close to your ear that makes a difference over say a all in one speaker system..... -So I'd like some decent bass since I have enough room down there to mount a larger woofer and clarity, so what should I use 3, 2, or all in one speaker system?????? Thanks guys got part #'s???? |

Its really up to you, i wouldnt run a 3 speaker system though.. Most people run a component set up with the tweeter and sub, and go with an 8 in in the bottom. You can easily swap out that 4" (i think its a 4 inch) in the middle, i just disconnected mine cuz i didnt like em too much.

Well to me that is a 3 speaker component system one tweeter, one midrange, one sub in the bottom. Or did you mean most people use a 2 speaker system with on tweeter and one sub in the bottom????? I still don't see how its easy to swap out the midrange speaker as there is no room for a speaker with a decent sized magnet. It looks to me like only a stock or slim speaker would fit there and I can't find one in the performance aftermarket speakers that would fit "depth wise." -Looking for anyone that has actually swapped this midrange speaker out for an aftermarket improvement? THanks.... This post has been edited by bdog_v: Apr 17, 2006 - 7:07 PM |

If it didn't require major modification and you could fit a decent midrange then I would definitely do 3 way. |

Well I really didn't want to do that. So I was hoping to find a high quality midrange that would fit. So what about getting another stock type speaker for the midrange and buying a (high quality component 2 speaker set up to run with a factory style midrange?) Would the factory midrange just not sound decent enough to even use with the aftermarket speakers??? Anyone try this????
