This is the same swap that I've been working on for the last month, after fixing problem after problem with the swap not being done right by the first two mechanics, I finally got it running in time to discover that the engine rebuild was done at about the same quality. So out it comes again.

The engine stripped down:

Head removed:

Closeup of the cylinder walls. This is with about 40 minutes of run-time, and there is NO crosshatch pattern visible at all.

Another closeup showing what seems to be some cylinder scratching...

About to remove the crankshaft:

The bare block:

Piston number 4, pitting around the edge of the piston above the first ring:

very nice, I wish I had money I could spend...

And yes, people are still using 56K. I have a 56K modem, but I only connect at 40K max, generally my computer will connect at 28K.. I hate the world

Doc = the man. smile.gif

Great work, you have much more patience than I. As soon as I have the money set aside, you can be sure that I'll be putting my car on a trailer and hauling it and a clean 3SGTE up to Vermont for you.
