I asked this question on celica.net but I figure I'll ask here too:

For those of you who put the hood and bumper on yourself, how did you take care of the gap between the urethane bumper and the metal it's supposed to bolt onto under the hood?

The stock bumper rests nicely on that metal piece where you pop the bolts into, but the gt-four bumper is raised in the middle.. at least half an inch.

So.. how did you overcome that? Any other information on the conversion would be nice to.. like how you took care of the hood latching problem. I'll probably end up doing some cutting and welding, unless there is an easier way to go about it.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

you have to put it on put the two end screws on (save the screws you took out) put the two end screws down then shut the hood down and let it settle for a week or 10 days then you can work the two nylon push ribbons on over the head lights and then about another week you can stretch the ones and pull it back

Hope that helps

HINT: bend hood release lever up so you can reach it till you can bolt the bumper down

So what you're saying is force the bumper down to meet the metal? Doesn't that create a gap between the bumper and hood?

Maybe I'm just slow.. but I'm having trouble understanding how you did this. Try that explanation one more time and please be as descriptive as possible.

I'm not understanding how the urethane bumper can be both bolted down to the metal but also not leave a gap between the bumper and the hood. What exactly is stretching? Bear with me here smile.gif

And again, I really appreciate this.
