Well, as some of you know, I've been registered on this site for almost a year, and I've been looking to buy a Celica for about a year and a half. I've been looking on craigslist, watching autotrader, and frequenting eBay looking for the perfect Celica ever since I fell in love with them. So, I’m happy to finally announce that I’ve joined the ranks of all you Celica endowed. =] So here’s the specs:
1994 Celica GT 207,000 miles, black and a manual. Pretty much everything is stock. Decent interior, only some rips. Exterior is decent too, some pitting and scratches(needs a new paint job eventually), but not bad considering the miles. I’m the fourth owner. The first guy worked at Toyota, then the second and third owners were sisters. Here’s the only catch. It wasn’t running when I bought it. It had been sitting since mid-February and the girl a bought it from didn’t really need it anyway. She took the bus to work, and walked everywhere else. I bought it on Wednesday, and after about $30, and 7 or 8 hours of work, my dad and I got it running last night. Turned out to be a timing belt. I don’t think the thing had ever been replaced in 200K miles! I wish I had a picture to show you all how frayed it was. The thing slipped and the crank was nearly a two thirds the way out of alignment with the rotor. =] Anyway, here are some pictures of it I took today after I washed and waxed it. It really runs great! It be expected of a Toyota. I just decided take a poll and see what all you people would have been willing to pay for this car, then I’ll tell you what I got it for.(keep in mind it wasn't running when I actually bought it) -------------------- |

Really depends on whether i knew what was wrong with the car before hand or not. If i would of bought it not running, and not having an idea what was wrong, then it would be very cheap with the milage and all. If i knew it was just a timing belt (and the seller knew) then maybe it would go for more? you waited a year and half, and then settled for a 94 with a load of miles. either way nice car...i hope you have big plans for her!

I have bigs plans for it all right. I really didn't care about milage, cause I plan on doing a 3sgte swap next summer('07). I know a lot of people talk about doing one and never get around to it, so I'm not bragging yet, but that's my plan.=] I figured it was either a timing belt, or maybe a fuel pump. The engine was turning over, just not starting. Besides, I'd be willing to fix just about anything besides a warped head. I "settled" for a 94 because I'm a poor college student.

Well, I bought it for $700. I, personally, am very happy with it. Considering its pretty hard to find a 6th gen for under 2K no matter what the condition. I now have a decent condition and great running Celica for $700...I'm down with that.

Yea, I was gonna say, if you paid anymore than $1000 dollars for a +200,000k car that doesn't run... well quite frankly we'd have to call the nuthouse on you. If you wanna do a 3S swap, I'd hold off and find a celica with lower miles. You don't want to put 225-250hp on a frame that's that tired (especially when it's only used to 135hp (probably far less by now). |

he dosent make 135 at the wheels even, and plus its not gonna matter about how many miles are on it if he does the swap, because he will replace the whole drivetrain. because ther is no frame, its a uni-body constructed car, meaning the frame is the body, except for the crossmember up front, wich shouldnt be in any worse condition than a 94 with 1000 miles on it it doesnt move or anything

a 6gCeli is a 6gCeli and by any other name still looks as sweet. shine it up and take it down the strip, you WILL experience that wonderous feeling as though everyone is looking at you...they are ! congrats on the acquisition. it looks better than my '99 GT.

700 is pretty good. and lucky for you, the only problem was the timing belt. good luck with your future plans.

Thanks man! I don't think it holds a finger to a 99 siver GT, but it's nice all the same. Your so right about "that wonderous feeling" too. I've been wanting a Celi for so long I just want to roll down the windows a scream, "HEY! Look what I finally bought! Don't you know what this is!? This is a CELICA!" lol. I'm so enthused.... -------------------- |

IMO, if some one's scared of buying a not running car, they don't deserve to be moding something as beautiful as a 6th gen. celi in the first place. -------------------- |

Im not sure where your logic is on that one, but nice buy anyways. Its not a matter of being "scared" its a matter of being smart with money, and not investing alot of money into a car thats not even running. now if i had the intentions of doing a swap, then this car would be perfect. -------------------- I am now a part of the ihavemorethen16gc club! |
