I have a 1996 st and I was thinking of doing a 3sgte swap. I found a brand new engine at toysport.com that costs $4500. Lets say I pay that for the engine alone, for anybody who knows, how much more would you say it would cost for additional parts. I am guessing that it will be around $8000 in total, but I would like to know from people who have completed the swap how much they paied. I don't want to get a clip or a used engine because I am afraid that it will have high milage and it won't last very long. I am planning on keeping my car for a very long time and I would like the engine to last for that amount of time.

Hi,
Check out the links at the bottom of the first post. You should go for a front clip, it will have all of the parts you are looking for. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1311 happy hunting This post has been edited by veritas: May 9, 2006 - 2:04 AM -------------------- Nick

Read up on celicatech as well about the 3sgte engine swap....you will find out that a front clip is the way to go...Otherwise you will be searching to find many rare parts. It will save you many headaches if you get the clip. Also read this entire link to get a feel for what you are gettting into...show topic

Where in CT are you?
For 4500 you can get the entire swap done with an ST205 engine. If you know your way around a car and understand electrical work you can do the swap w/o an clip. -------------------- |

When, i was looking for a price quote, this is what Doc-Tweak quoted me.
"Just trying to get a rough estimate for a 3s-gte swap, in a 94 st mt celica. trying to go with a lsd, dosnt matter to me which tranny, also a full exhaust. Also maybe a rough time frame when u will have openings and how long it would take. " Doug Sure thing. Probably looking at around $5000 for the swap, plus like $800 for a full mandrel-bent stainless exhaust. The LSD for the S54 tranny is around $800 plus like $500 to install it. I'd say the whole thing will run you about $7000 all said and done. -Doc |
