I'll let you know when i find out. My 4agze is on the way, should be here in a week or two, and i'm doing a auto to manual swap as well. I think Mynzeyes (John) is going to do a write up on how you do it. So far all is know is that you are gonna need to locate the gas pedal, clutch pedal, and brake pedal (+ plus all cables) from an manual 94-99 celica...
*scratch that on the cables, i dont know what exactly you will need*** This post has been edited by FAQdaWorld: Jun 12, 2003 - 11:59 PM -------------------- AIM : FAQdaWorld

puffdog, let us know if you ever get this done (and especially, what shop did it for you and how much)..
I have an ST sitting in the garage (I'm trying to sell it) but if it doesn't, I want to do the 4AGZE swap (AE101).. Car is in great condition, except it has 160,000 Miles (well, it does run well still, no problems with the engine - maintained well - should last quite a bit longer) - swapping should rejuvinate it tpautomotive has an AE101 front clip in stock but it's 3K (yipes, before shipping).. My wife thinks my Celica ST is heavy (well, I think she means that it's underpowered .. Anybody know if such a swap is legal in California? because the guy at the emissions check place will pass you if he knows you or if you give him a tip, lol i want to eventually do a awd conversion and 3sgte swap. and when time comes for an emmisions check i will drop in a $500 5sfe from a 99 celica and have it be 100% smog legal. a swap with a USDM engine from the same car of at the oldest the same year as the car its goin in is legal. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Hmmm, the problem is there doesn't seem to be any USDM 4A-GZE engine newer than my '94 Celica.. I checked the engine options on the 94' and 95' Corolla and I don't believe they offered the 4A-GZE on USDM - only the JDM cars.. The 1st Gen MR2's don't count as they are older than the '94. 4agzes were also offered in the 1st gen MR2s.
HAHA i think its very laughable how you think you can switch between a 3sgte AWD and a 5sfe back and forth whenever you have an emissions check. its not exactly plug and play. -------------------- Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... seems that us CALI peeps don't have a choice on the ST if we want to keep it legal (if we want an engine swap) - adding a Turbo to an ST would be quite ridiculous.. This post has been edited by funks: Jun 13, 2003 - 5:45 PM |

But thats before a turbo right? It looks like the 4agze is the best option for the ST am I right? What all would you need to make it work? Does the tranny bolt up to it? If no1 wants to answer what all goes along with it just point me to a site that shows what ya need. How much money am I looking at realisticly, factor out labor because I can do it, I guess what i really need to know is if i have the engine what else do puffdog and I need to make it work? GRACIAS AMIGOS! |
