Was checking out toyota's japanese homepage tonight, and the Celica has dissapeared from the JDM home market lineup... This leads me to believe two possible things, and I'm leaning towards the latter... Either there will be a new celica being released in the near future (possibly based off the forthcoming new corolla?), or the Celica nameplate is going to be dormant/gone for quite a while frown.gif I havent heard anything real solid about a new celica, and thats what worries me...

Close but no cigar my friend... here's an excerp taken from wikipedia...

The Scion lineup in general, including the tC, was designed to replace the Toyota Celica, replacing it with a sportier selection that would be more attractive to younger buyers.

The name tC does not fit in with its stablemates the xA and xB because the name xC has already been taken by Volvo for its XC70 and XC90 models. According to Scion, tC stands for "Touring Coupe."

you havent seen the new "supra" rumors going around? And the tC didnt replace the celica, the tC is its own car and does not resemble the celi at all.

comon guys. the celica and the supra arent coming back frown.gif

toyota has turned into something else (thinking family and safety) they dont care about sports cars no more

what's even sadder? SCION frown.gif

why not spend all that money and create a powerful celica (like the gt-four) or something else?

eh no...the celica is a worldwide model, and the TC is only available in the US, It's more of an excuse. The TC is even blacklisted to be imported in Canada, its a US specific model.

And the reason the name is TC, well for one thing, Volvo already has a "XC", so scion couldnt continu the x* series. Has there been any official word about the model name, or is it just internet rumors ..

tC stands for toyota celica?
lol

so somewhere on the car is says Toyota Celica right?
like the MR has Midship Runabout on it.

i think that's just coincidence
and while all these cars ARE dead, toyota should come out with ONE sports cars.
lexus isn't putting out a 2-dr RWD/AWD beast, other than the LF-A which is gonna be ex-pen-sive.
just wait. . .

i heard that the celica was done in 05'. and the tc did replace the celica as toyota's large sport coupe. and the pictures of the supposed "new supra" are toyota's super car, which will compete with other cars in its class like ferrari and lambo's. its their "japanese muscle car". anyways, there are other rumors tho that a plan to bring back the supra will be brought to public view as early as 07', around the same time as their super car should be available to the public.

all this was read in an old 05' issue of modified mag.
