Well in one form or another it worked out so that i will be getting a 3sgte . I beleive it is a second gen, and its from japan with about 40k on it. It comes with a AWD transmission, and it got me thinking.... Is it possible to convert my car from front to ALL? That would make the car handle much better especially when punching it off the line... I have a feeling somebody on this forum may have done it before, but i had trouble with the search feature and ive only been on 6g for a few weeks now.
Just curious on what i would have to do if it is even possible, and where to start. Thanks Jesse here is a pic, maybe a few of you could tell me more about the engine? if it really is a 2nd gen or what... thanks in advance |

People have done the AWD conversion before, I just dont remember who, but it IS possible. It takes a lot of money and time because some parts are hard to find. I would guess a lot of custom fab as well. As for the motor, look around on the engine and see if you can find any numbers or anything and let us know what they are, someone will know what it is from the numbers. It looks really clean tho, good luck.

Not without very good custom fabrication skills. For your average swapper, this is not a realistic option.

hmm well i could always hold onto the awd tranny and do the swap down the road. that would give me time to gather all the necessary items.

unless you have EXTREMELY good fabrication skills (celimans dad is a fabricator by trade), or really deep pockets, its not a viable option.
it IS 100% possible, just not by your average weekend mechanic, or swapper. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

i'm too ambishous to give up that easily. but it appears my time frame isn't going to allow an attempt at it. But i will hold onto the AWD tranny and maybe tackle it someday..
As for the engine i think it came from an All-Trac which would make it a 2nd gen right? What is the first performance mod i should do to a 2nd gen 3s-gte after its in? ps: what is that air inlet going to the altenator for? This post has been edited by jcbass7: Apr 28, 2006 - 6:49 PM |

Yes, its a gen 2 motor. The first thing you should do is all the engine matainance before you put the engine in. Get the car running with out any problems. Then get an exhaust and a boost controller. By then you should be able to decide what next step or upgrade is best for you. -------------------- I will return one day. |
