I was in the same bost as you a few years ago.

Did the suspension, next was the engine, then the exterior.

This dyno video should help your decision. wink.gif

Engine swap.

I'm considering doing that or buying an mr-2 turbo, whichever comes easier. I'd try to do the swap myself, then get a custom made wiring harness from one of the guys (Tweak, DG) on the boards.

i wouldnt not try to use a mr2 motor for your first engine swap.
the acsessories are on the wrong side of the motor waternecks are diffrent, the harness and ecu are diffrent also.
your MUCH better off with a celica front clip.
now, if your just replacing a 3sgte thats already in your car, the mr2 option is viable because you just transfer over all the brackets ect you need from the celica motor to the mr2 one.

You can use an mr-2 turbo motor, but, I was just saying, I'm considering buying the actual car and just driving that instead of doing the swap.

Only problem is that I can only find mr-2's with only 100k+ miles on them, i'm not sure if a boosted motor (even a toyota) would be that reliable with such high mileage.

You'd be much better off buying an ST205 clip and swapping that motor in.

It will mount to the ST chassis, however, you'll need to use GT motor mounts, axles, and shifter cables to get it to work right, if you plan on using a GT transmission.

clip 1500 - 2200 depending on where you buy it I would go jarco... thats for a st185clip
s54 tranny - you can get it from a junkyard for around 300 I would suggest getting all three tranny mounts from the junkyard at the same time. Tranny mounts fromt the dealer arent cheap. The mount that sits right below the rad was like 79 dollars? The one that sits against the fender was around 90?
axles - 99 dollars from advance...just make sure you tell them its for your exact car they screwed mine up about 3x.
harness - tweek makes a harness for around 300$ I think? Its much much easier having someone do all the wiring for you.
motor Mounts are not cheap fromt he delaership if thats where your getting them from.
shifter cables are 135$ from the dealer. Somethign else you can get from a junkyard if they have a 6gc there.

I would also suggest an front mount as the top mount doesnt help out much.
