I'm getting a 2nd gen 3sgte that i will be putting into a 94 gt hatchback that i will also be getting with the motor. The stock 5s is basically toast, but thats where the 3s is going to be soon anyway. My concerns are related to being able to get my car inspected and registered where i live in massachusetts. Not sure how other states are, but we have a safety inspection and emissions inspection. Now i beleive the engine is imported from Japan and not from an american all-trac. I have read that the japanese engines don't have egr's.. something i guess i need in the US. Anyone in Mass have a 3sgte or anyone in general, and if so did you have issues getting it inspected?
Thanks in advance, Jesse |

A moderator should get together a bunch of posts, and sticky an emissions thread in the engine/performance section. I see *a LOT* of posts around here regarding it.
I don't think anything you can do will make the car smog legal, most people suggest paying off a shop to get them to pass you. I've heard of additives you can add to your gas tank which could possibly make you run a little cleaner, but isn't exactly healthy for the engine. Maybe ill try to get the 5sfe running that comes with the new car.. not sure if it needs a lot of work or not, but then i can register it with that etc. etc. and then swap and ill have a sticker for a year. This post has been edited by jcbass7: May 1, 2006 - 7:54 PM |

since you have a 94 getting a sticker is easier than having a 96+. With a stock cat (DP) and a USDM ECU you should pass emissions with a 3s.

"foster/ gloucester, no school today."
BWAHAHAHAHA heyu man, you should come out to the RI meets, we're like 1 hr away from you. as far as inspection...start making friends with your local guy, and when the time comes, you walk in, hand him a CRISP 100$ bill and say: "keep the change, as long as i get a pass" and you leave with a nice new sticker..=) -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
