i was talking to a mechanic friend of mine and he was telling me that alot of time, if you lower vehicles, you have big problem with camber and you need to buy some new joint things, not actual joints, but i cant remember what the word was he sued, but yeah, i was thinking of getting some teins and some KYB's, were i to straight up install those, and get an alignment, would i have problems, or would i have to buy some other devices as well? thanks!

i was told any time you lower a car you need to adjust the -camber , as you lower the car it toes the top of the tire in and will cause your tire to wear the inside faster then the rest of it, i just got adjustable coilovers and i dropped the front 2 1\2 and rear 2in i also instaled a obx camber kit so i can adjust the camber in and out the tires , that way when i raise the car back to stock stance for winter i wont wear my tires out and get the most traction as posable wink.gif

I was told that basically anything above 2" can be adjusted and dandy w/o a camber kit, but 2" and beyond needs a camber kit.

Camber is not adjustable from the factory. What controls your camber is the angle between your strut and the hub/spindle.

There are two bolts that connect the bottom of the strut to the hub/spindle. From the factory, these bolts have almost no play in them and therefore camber adjustment isn't possible. It may be true that lowering a car 1.5" or so doesn't mess up the camber, but it's certainly not adjustable.

To make the camber adjustable, crash bolts(bolts with a thinner inside diameter...kind of hard to explain) or camber bolts(bolts with a cam on them) must be used.

It depends...some people can get away with not touching the camber and still have good handling and even tire wear...others(like me) need camber kits. Though it's possible that toe settings were causing my poor tire wear, and when I got the car aligned after I installed the camber kit they adjusted toe as well.

i dont think you'll need it. my tanabe i straight up put it on. its 2" in the front and 1.5" the back. when my lil bro got at 240sx he had apex coilovers. it had like 2-3" left from the floor. but learning it from 240 forums u would need adjustable camber kits to help the wear and tear on ur tires. plus traction.

Usually if you get an alignment they'll adjust your camber. The camber won't stick for long if you dont have a camber kit. I only added camber kits to the rear of my car. A friend with an RSX-S referred me to SPC camber bolts.

Wish I had adjustable pillowball mounts.

Bringing this back up. I took my car to MR Tire and they said i need my cmaber adjusted, which means i need a cameber kit.

My question, I found on lightning-motorsports a spc camber bolts. $20 for a front and rear. If i do that will that work,

or should I get the engels camber kit @ nopi? If i do tht which do i get the 1 or 2?

My plan is to get these, and install them and then goi get my car aligned. They wanted $270 for the kit and alignment which the alignment is $70

I heard you didn't need camber kit for either my 5th gen and my friend's 2000 miata, that being said, both car was lowered not even 2" and you could see with your eyes the rear wheels pointing inside. Maybe it was ok for the tires, but I didn't like it anyway. (the miata has stock camber adjustmen btw)

Get camber bolts, they are cheap and eaaaaaaaaasy to install, and you can even adjust them yourself.

Adjustable strut mounts will do the job very good but they are pricey. If your car is lowered it is easy to correct camber to factory setting. I have them, and they also give more control over the car and steering feels tight. I recomend them to anyone over the crush bolts.

I had these and they work fine, once adjusted they don't need to be touched again.

you need a camber kit with any drop really unless you what less of the tire contacting the ground and uneven tire wear. 20=camber kit 300-800= tires i would buy the camber kit just to be sure :-)
