3 sets of tires 15" Stockers, 17" Falkens, and my drag radials. All break loose on the passenger side first. I can assure you its not tire pressure. What it is I couldnt tell you, it has boggled me since the first time I noticed it. confused.gif

could that be from the left axel being shorter than the right. the power gets to the ground sooner?

Right side is the long axle, left side is the short. Right side spins first on my tranny. It should burn out the other way around.

yeah, but you really cant compare them like that. you would need 2 cars with the same exact mods with the same driver to see if it only happened in only one car or not.

an easy way to verify the gear ratio would be to have jeff take a pic of his MPH at 3-4k. then have somone else with a s54 do the same.
the max speed per gear, listed aboive, is compared at different RPM's...by the way.

I'm about 99% sure it would be the same speed @ the same RPM. If not the same then very close. I think Manny is running the same profile tires I am. So we can check with his car.

This saturday I'll take a pic of 5th gear @ 4,000 RPM.

Also,

I can tell you - its big power in a FWD setup with the lack of a LSD. My car breaks the tires loose at the same time when going straight.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

More anecdotal evidence of the superiority of CM over Spec.

I've been using SPEC clutches on my recent swaps, and this is making me think twice about using them again...

its been broken in for 500 miles at stock boost. i followed the BGB to spec with everything and had other friends (who build motors also) check out everything. I know we did everything just like the book says. my dad checked it out also, and i trust him more than anyone, hes very experienced with automotive installs. i wouldnt question my mechanical skills. and even so, how do you screw up a clutch install?! its a flywheel pressure plate ,clutch disc and throwout bearing. 4 items that you line up , torque to spec and bolt the tranny to its not rocket science by any means. my last spec clutch speaks for itself i mean HOW does that break like that on less than 300 hp its rated for 400tq, it was a rivet defect im told. now this one ****s the bed. Spec has left me with a Horrible taste in my mouth. i owned an ACT stage 2 before that was rated for 300tq on the 5sfte and that thing was/is perfect. I really didnt want this set back, now ill add it to the list of crap to do. the only thing im happy about is that it broke when it did and not after i install a big holset turbo, now I atleast have plenty of time to fix.
