After many, many weeks of researching. I found that TRD did make limited edition Cams that is VVT-I compatible. Unfortunatly they are not being made anymore and finding a new set is impossible, heck....i cant even find a used set.

Anyway, on to the question, does anyone know what TRD offered for Cam durations and lifts for the 98-99 Beams Redtop?

Finding information in english is becoming a pain.

i think you can check the TRD website, i had no idea they werent available. They're really aggressive. Not sure if you can still buy it, but they have inoperative/opperative vvti cams.

Comment from the site:

3S-GE engine parts are for Altezza (SXE10) M/T cars only. Cannot be used in 3S-GE engines of other cars.
To install, machining, alterations, grinding, and other operations are required.

Some parts might fit to a red top too - but remeber Black top is a Dual VVTi while Red top is single...

Wow, those really are aggressive.

From what i found out from the Aussies, TRD did make a VVT-I Cam, and actually had about 5 different durations. They actually posted them but i cant find it again, and those guys are not too nice to americans with crazy ideas so i dont like going there.

Thanks for the info so far

I know that the ITB's, Exhaust Manifold, and i think the headgasket fit the Redtop

Camshaft For operative VVT-i

Description........................Part No............................Remarks

Camshaft,intake............13501-TF120..............For operative VVT-i Angle 296°Lifting 13.0
Camshaft,intake............13501-TF130..............For operative VVT-i Angle 280°Lifting 12.2
Camshaft,exhaust..........13502-TF120.............For operative VVT-i Angle 296°Lifting 12.7
Camshaft,exhaust..........13502-TF130.............For operative VVT-i Angle 280°Lifting 12.0

There are two different kinds, one for operative VVT-i and one for inoperative VVT-i.
It's required to make enough space on cylinder head for the cam to operate correctly.

according to the link above, those cams are for the BlackTop Dual VVT-I. Will the Intake Cam for the Blacktop fit the Redtop with no Modifications? Also, will the exhaust Cam fit in the redtop, i know its not dual VVT-I, but will it run fine even with a VVT-I cam without an exhaust VVT-I sensor thing (or whatever runs it).

I will be using the APEXI EMS from bathboy er whatever they are called, Which cam duration would you recommend that will also allow to keep my car as a daily driver with no rough idle?

So can these still be ordered from TRD? The TRD Tama is about a 20 minute drive for me.

Im sure it will fit, but like Outsider said, your going to build and make enough room for the cam. or maybe you should ask a rep. from TRD. I would like to see you order these parts from TRD, i would like to know myself.

The site will even tell you, it says you will need to machine, grind, " * All parts listed below are for competition use only. To use the vehicle on public streets, you must install additional parts, change accessories, perform settings, and so on, in order for the vehicle to meet safety standards."-I still dont know much about this myself, i will learn more about what setup i want to run for exhaust/intake+what building/alterations needed later.

So i went down to TRD today to pick a few items up. Out of curiosity i checked about cams, and found that they had the beams redtop cams in stock, and had plenty of them, but havnt sold any in awhile.

Im gonna bring my boss down there one of these days to confirm since i dont speak japanese, but if your interested in a set, they go for about $1100 to $1200 depending on exchange rate. i dont mind picking a set up for someone if they are serious about getting them. No, i dont want compensation. Its one of those things where ill do it since im there. Shipping would cost me about $15 bucks to the states, and of course you would need to add that.

this isnt the thread though to do this kind of stuff, so ill start another thread once i find out if they really do have it or the guy was looking at the SXE10 stuff.
