QUOTE(b1gr3d @ May 12, 2006 - 8:57 AM) i started thinking about (almost) this very thing. my boss just bought a camry with a 2.2l in it and i was like HEY what if one of the 5sfe legends on here got ahold of it and slapped on a turbo setup?? ultimate sleeper/kid hauler...MUCH Those would be even more sleeper, as they are even more of a family hauler type car... The bad part is that they are about 500lbs heavier than mine. Actually, a buddy of mine should be finishing up a 3rd gen swap in his '94 (I think?) Camry coupe... He's running his with an AEM EMS though, not the stock ECU... We are definitely going to have fun rolling around and surprising people! -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon

They were putting in the intercooler pipes last time I talked to him... the motor is in the car, wiring harness is done, etc. It may already have been started by now! I'm still waiting on the tranny. -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon

The motor is in the car, the car is running and I've driven it through a whole tank of gas (only 23mpg! ).
I'll have some finished pictures soon, but this is all I've got uploaded at the moment. It's friggin' fast!! -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon

QUOTE(jdg371 @ Jul 18, 2006 - 12:27 PM) what year did the alltrac camry appear in? All-trac Camrys were available in the US from '88-'91. They had AWD versions in Japan through '01, as far as I understand. My Camry is just FWD though... It has a E153 w/ Kaaz LSD though, so traction isn't a huge problem. I'm debating whether to get an all-trac Camry at the moment - but it kinda looks like a basket case and I'm not up for another huge project again (I've been working on this Camry for 8 months for the motor swap - I just want to drive it!) -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon

QUOTE(phattyduck @ May 9, 2006 - 7:14 PM) When this is done, I'll have a 250whp car with 4 doors that gets 30mpg and won't attract any attention from cops with less than with about $6k invested (including the car!!). What more can you want? Nice job...always have time for people who put effort into achieving what they want no matter what it is. Think your gonna be very disapointed though if you expect to get 30mpg from a 3rd gen 3sgte...half that and you`ll be somewhere close. |

Actually, I got 22mpg on my first tank - and that's with me on it CONSTANTLY. I'd like a slightly lower final drive, but it really is pretty reasonable. I think mid-20's for mileage is more realistic at this point. Don't forget that I'm 2wd. -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon

I was the same....when I first had the faff I got about 28 MPG...but the longer you have it the more you learnt to drive it and get more from it...petrol goes down quicker...I now average about 12MPG
But its f`ing quick now Whats worse is its so hot here at the moment I`m getting even less MPG...and the poor gt4 hates hot weather. This post has been edited by Insanity-74: Jul 19, 2006 - 2:54 PM |

People put the 3sgte in lots of different toyotas, this camry being no exception. I've even seen one in a 7th gen celica.
Although, I would've thought you would've used a newer (94+) shell to put it in, it's still a nice sleeper. Didn't that car have a 3s-fe in it to begin with? |

Didn't that car have a 3s-fe in it to begin with? Well, I already had the car, which is a big reason for using it as the starting platform. I really don't like the '92-'96 Camry body style and I can't afford a '97+ Camry as a second car. Besides, those cars are 500lbs+ heavier... I have A/C, a decent stereo, decent suspension and (now) reliability - which is all I need for this car. And yes, the car had the 3s-fe in it originally. Very little modifications had to happen to get the motor in the car - only the rear mount had to be modified. -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon
