i was told its a dohc but the motor in mycar is sohc

7afe is a DOHC, with a slave cam design I believe.

correct. it isn't a true dual over head cam, but there are 2 cams. only one pulley though, that's what is meant by "slave cam design".

BTW: general (very general) rule of thumb: if the spark plugs are in the center of the head, it will be a DOHC motor, where as if they are offset to the front or back of the head, it is a SOHC. Again, very generalized, and mostly in the 4cyl family, is what i'm speaking of.
