Hi all,
On my celica GT - 5S-FE engine - oil pressure light stays on a few seconds after start - after all other lights are off. The longer it sits, the longer in is on. Never happens during driving. I have oil on full mark. Runs fine. I thought about the oil filter - as it is mounted almost upside down - anti-drain failure, etc, but after replacement with a different brand still the same. Today it is even flickered before going off. Freaks me out! Any help is greatly appreciated! Val |

Perfectly normal. I'd hazard a guess that all engines will do this. I don't know if it's electronics related, or if the oil pressure really is low, but mine does it too. Nothing to worry about, and if it's to be worried about, nothing that can be fixed.

You are saying your low pressure light stays on like 4 seconds on startup AFTER all other lights are off (except the airbag light)? Hmm, in my Honda accord 1987 oil light dissapears with all other lights - NEVER a second longer. You think the delay is normal for 5S-FE? I am afraid of wear every start... Val |

the oil pressure switch is one of the last places on the engine to recieve oil, thats why it takes an extra couple of seconds for it to go out on a cold startup.
your observation is correct, that it will stay on a bit longer the longer the car sits, although ive never seen it stay on in my car for more than 4-5 seconds at most. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
