Ok so, I was doing speed limit in the Construction zone, and they are resurfacing the highway, and the ramps haven't been touched yet, so there's like a 2" difference between the stripped highway and the ramp, and when I went go merge to the ramp, I slammed that 2" bump and it dented both of my front rims.

Can I bitch to the city? Or what can i do.

Yeah, you should go with a bigger profile tire so that doesn't happen. Doesn't look as good but it's the price you gotta to pay so you don't keep shelling out money on dented rims ya know?

Holy SH*T. ME TOO. This happened to me two days ago and I was just about to post it! I dented all four of my new rims =(. Well I didn't do it, my dad took my celi out for a ride cause I said he could. So anyway, he filed a claim just for the hell of it. Who knows.

Yea, this sucks.

Just curious what size were the rims and tires? 17 or 18" I posted earlier I was thinking of buying 16" or 17" wheels, but I've changed my mind since my drive to work is around 40 miles total, mixed street, and highway, but the roads in some areas aren't great. But with my 14" wheels and huge sidewalls it gives a comfortable ride, and I'll never worry about denting a rim, though admitadely 14" wheels looks pathetic.

My tires have a little lip that comes out to give that extra protection for my rims. It's worked really well with small holes in the road, but I'm definately not testing them on deep potholes or driving over curbs cuz I know they're not undestructable.

It happened to me too last summer on my vacation trip to New Jersey.....I hit at least 5 step as you talked about on construction spots.....Came back with 3 false rims.....360$ canadian dollars to fix all this... !!(mille miglia action)

That is exactly why I got the Superleggeras from OZ.....they are supposed to be indestructible. It is worth the price to pay extra and not to get scrapped rims on the road. Up to now, they stayed perfectly round ! biggrin.gif

Yes, This is why I drive like an old fart all the time, The roads here are worse then paved dirt, at least with paved dirt you dont get random potholes every other day.

Was driving in D.C. and some road construction ignoramous thought it would be funny to put a paved sloping 5" drop hole in the middle of the road #$@#. Scrapped my bodykit and had to get it painted on the underside. Guess enough people got mad that they finally put like 2 cones in the hole so people would mess up their cars.

The best way to go about not letting this happen is:

1. Drive roads you only Know.
2. Drive very slowly like an old fo.

I hardly drive above 60, The only time I will aggressivly drive is on any roads I know are in good condition.

Wheel Techniques repairs rims - might be worth a try?
