What's up 6g!!! I have a ST which 140 on the dash. I know that cars have restrictors on them and stuff, but damn I topped out at like 120mph. I found this out when I was on the highway racing my friends hemi powered Charger on the way to a business meeting. You guys know who won that one. : laugh.gif I was wondering if the ST was supposed to "cut off" at that 120 mark or if there is something wrong with my car.

there is a hard limiter at about 115-125mph depending on the size of your tires. Not all speedo's are perfectly accurate... but yes... it is limited. The car barely has enough power to make it up there anyways... hehe

Ha ha!!!! Thanks for your reply. I was beginning to think that no one was out there. If I got someone to take it off would that hurt my car?

the actual rpm limit isn't much more than 120mph anyways... and I don't reccomend you doing it or anything.

6GC speedometer goes up to 150 wink.gif
IPB Image

You can temporarily disable it by interupting the speed signal to the ECU, but good luck getting the car to go much faster.

good link Alex, I was going to post that.

Art, you are 100% correct smile.gif

also, the car only goes that fast for a reason, any further pushing above the "max" can cause serious internal damage. It is designed to be a economy vehicle, not a performance machine wink.gif

why are you trying to drive so fast with a 115 hp car anyways. i'm sorry but our cars are slow. do a swap if you want, but i've accepted the fact that my car will never be fast. so just as long as people never find out how slow it actually is, i'm happy. "turn heads driving slow." something my car is extremely good at.

Don't know how fast I go (Broken speedo), but I've hit 6krpm in 5th gear on my 3S-GE several times. Fun, but dangerous, even though the car feels very stable.

I think the fastest I have hit was 100 mph in my GT, and that was probably for only a few seconds. I think getting up to 120 is pretty risky esp in the ST...I woulda been crossing my fingers that I was not gonna crash or bust the engine up.

There's a WWII airfield near me that has infeilf race track and a central 2 1/2 mile landing strip that we test construction machines on and my JDM import indicated 140mph untill I ran out of airstrip, realise that this is realistically maybe closer to 130 but this is with a 3fe engine not beams.

Didn't hit a limiter of any description though, anyone know what revs the limiter hence max theoretical is for the 140hp 3fe powered car?
