I'm turning to the 6GC community as my last hope to get my business up and running.
First, some brief history about me and how the idea for my business came about. I'm an 18 year old college student. I've worked in a call center for 2 years and, during this time, I've absorbed and learned so much. Things such as sales, marketing, management, systems, and much more. I feel I'm capable of running my own business and being the young adult I am, fearless when it comes to taking risks. I will be selling natural/herbal supplements. There's a lot more to it, but I have everything figured out (trust me)... except the product. I need to purchase large quantities of the natural supplements so I can get it cheap and sell it for more (duh, lol). I don't have to worry about FDA laws since natural/herbal supplements don't need to be evaluated by the FDA as long as it has the disclaimer stating that on the label. I know I can get these products made cheaper out of the country, so that's probably the route I'll take, however, I don't know who to take the formula to? Obviously a laboratory, but when I search online for laboratories, it shows me testing laboratories and I can't find anything specific. Does anyone know what I should be searching for exactly? If someone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. This post has been edited by JoKeRkId613: May 21, 2006 - 8:06 PM -------------------- |

QUOTE(celicarus @ May 21, 2006 - 7:36 PM) have no idea either - pharmaceutical companies have that info - ask a pharmacist or if you know any pharm tech - they can tell you -- Walgreens, CVS - My brother's a pharmacy tech studying to be a pharmacist and works with them all day, but I didn't want to ask him because I know he'll make the answer more complicated than it should be. Well, I guess I'll have to do that. Thanks anyway, guys.-------------------- |

Yea ima have to say that this is probably a bad idea... I just dont see this is as being a high demand market, especially a young 18 year old trying to sell foreign herbal enhancers outa the back of his van. I mean i know Microsoft started somewhere, but i think you should find something easier to sell.

I don't need too much capitol to start this business. I'm probably the smartest 18 year old you'd ever meet so I wouldn't under-estimate myself if I were you. I've sold just about anything where I'm currently working. I work at an outsource call center and I've sold everything from Sprint DSL, Long Distance, phones, DirecTV service and channels, credit cards, identity theft protection for cards, refinancing/mortgages, travel agent memberships and more. I know how to market and source leads both inbound and outbound and I can sell anything I want as long as I believe in it. I already have a script, disclosure, software to dial automatically thousands of leads. Trust me, I know what I'm doing, I just don't know how to source the product. I got the idea from a family member and she makes anywhere from $25,000-$30,000 a month in sales, then of course, you subtract the costs, but there aren't many expenses. She's not even using computers and only using 2 phone lines at the moment. She recently opened her own office space so that she could have 4 lines since she can't have more than 2 in florida unless it's a commercial location. I can never talk to her since she's always busy and has always been that family member that u hardly see and when you do you dont get along. So that's why I turned to 6GC. Thanks for the help and encouraging words, guys.

well, let see. you have an idea so you're half way done. I can tell you the the best part of your idea is get the product made out of the country ( cheaper labor so cheaper product and less goverment regulations ) but there are a few things to consider on that.
1- you will have to pay custom fees on the product. 2- you need to get someone you trust on the X country to handle the business for you ( if you get someone here that tells you they have the conections they do but they are going to take big piece of what can be your profit ) don't get me wrong, you have a nice idea and it's something very profitable. just make sure you get conections to get the product made overseas or even better buy the product from a company overseas and just get it ship here ( a little less profit but still great ) just need to do labeling operation here. I can get you some web sites of labs in Dominican Republic. -------------------- |
