Hey everybody. It's been awhile since I've been here. I've started my own paint/mechanics business, but I don't have all the tools I need. I'm starting a new post because I bought what was supposed to be a 3SGE exhaust manifold from scothaniel, and it doesn't fit on my 5sfe at all. It seemed common knowledge that the 3sge, and 3sgte, and 5sfe manifolds were pretty much interchangeable. I've already dumped a fair amount of money and a lot of man hours into this project. To have it fail at this point is utterly disappointing. I can not express my discuss for the situation. Did scothaniel sell me the wrong part, or am I really missing something on the guide lines of modifying this thing?

never done what your trying to do, but i heard that to help make it work you would have to drill out some of the holes in the header to make them fit........and before anything why dosent it fit. ie: bolts too big or somn..

Its a 3rd gen ST202 header. Thats what you said you were looking for when I sold it to you. ( http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=30574&st=0 )
I do know that the 3rd gen 3S (ST20x) manifolds are not interchangable with the 2nd gen 3S (ST18x) manifolds. The bolt locations and port spacing is different between the 2 heads. I'm not that familiar with the 5S motors (had one but never modded it), so I cant say which manifold will work for you, but It sounds like you wanted a 1st or 2nd gen 3SGE manifold. I'm sorry its not going smoothly - I've had plenty of similar issues when buying head gaskets and timing belts that turned out being the wrong ones, so I know how frustrating it is. Please know that I was not trying to stiff you, or mislead you when I sold that manifold to you - I figured at $40 + shipping I was hooking a fellow 6gc member up! -------------------- Scott

I didn't think you were trying to stiff me. When I've talked to you you seemed to be a cool guy, and the price was good on it. I thought you might have sold me the wrong part on accident or something. I didn't know that there was a difference in the 3rd gens. The manifold is simply too big. It has the same pattern, but it's enlarged. It's too the point that I can't fix it without chopping the thing up. I'll get pictures up if I can. I really wanted to make my own, or make something fit. I have decent fabrication skills, so I'd like to be able to show that. I might try to save it and make a custom mount. We'll see. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy
