I have a stock 94 celica GT hatchback, i bought it used from a mechanic which assured me nothing was wrong. But it seems like my engine is alittle messed up. When i am on the highway my motor runs at like 4,500 RPM when only going around 70 mph. And i dont have a 6th gear and i dont want to suck down that much gas or do damage to my engine. Is there something wrong there or is that normal for the stock celica engine?

what size is your wheel+tire combo?
possible your speedo is off? or the tach.
the stock s-54 (GT) tranny is about 3950-4000rpm @ 80MPH in 5th gear

it sounds like its stressing the engine really bad, is that normal for the 6gen? can it be reduced? my wheels are the stock GT rims and tires to fit
