I know many people will disagree but after working as an installer and fixing many bad installs I really feel an alarm is only as good as the install.

Viper and python are both made by DEI as well as a few other brands. I have worked with DEI and can't say anything bad about them. But there are other brands that work just as well.

Basically find an alarm with the features you want and get a shop with a good reputation to install it. Wiring a remote start adds some complexity, time and cost to an install.

A DEI brand alarm brain with remote start should cost around 150 to 200 plus install. You can also add remote start later if you buy an alarm without it now. But it is cheaper in the long run to have it all done at once. Bestbuy's $500 price is about the going rate.

Free installs for a basic alarm are fine for most people. Just realize that corners are usually cut. The brain might not be hidden as well and the wiring might be a little messy. But if you want remote start I really doubt you will find a free install.

Also something no one wants to hear is that if they want your car bad enough no alarm will stop a crook.

Yes.. hes right a Alarm is only as good as the install. I personally have the clifford 2 way. It was about $500 when i got it. I bought it for around $180 when i worked at bestbuy had it installed pretty cheap in my bimmer. Then I wrecked that, Had it pulled out of that and installed in my celi for $100.

I work at circuit and would suggest just buying one from us and have us install it if you dont know what ur doing. Also if your around the annapolis area, def do NOT go to bestbuy.
