i was thinking about getting dual exhaust pipes coming out cause i thought that would look pretty sick, but does anyone know about how much it'd cost to get another semi-circle cut out in my back bumper for the muffler to come out under? cause i can get the piping done for real cheap but i dont know how much the actual body work may cost, it seems like it'd be alot PLUS i'd have to repaint it... blah.

I dont want to flame you because honestly its not nice its your car but...... You have one exhaust manifold..... meening you should only have one exhaust to a muffler exiting your car. You would prolly honestly lose power running duals depending on how you setup the exhaust..... But if you wanted to do it there is no reason to cut into the rear bumper.

do it yourself with a dremmel, then just use some touchup paint to cover the cut up. No need to repaint the full thing.

lol burneed, he drives a celica, whats a little more power loss gonna do to him? If your not after performance and just think it'll look cool go for it, Most dual exhaust set ups ive seen i havent been too fond of, Playrs happens to be an exception, cuz i think those big ass invader kits need more back there. Try it out though, theres a few people here with it.

Also having a dual exhaust, gonna be replaced asap for a nice single one with larger exhaust piping. For our cars its just for looks. but on the other hand.
The Toyota Carina 2.0 GT , which also had the 3S-GE engine + Super Strut Suspension had a Dual Exhaust as stock. -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

Engines breathe, engines breath better with less resistance, less resistance comes from straighter and bigger(to a point)pipes, on V6 engines or other multiple exaust manifold engines having straighter pipes means having multiple pipes(2) thus two mufflers, on 4 bangers the second pipe makes more resistance b/c it causes turbulance at its inlet and reduces efficiency.
On a side note, our exhaust manifold faces forward with 2 pipes on the left annd 2 on the right. What if we took a 4-2-1 style header and cut them off at the first intersection of 2 pipes. Making one piece that acts like 2 headers that are 2-1 style headers and then hook up custom exhaust systems and mufflers that are enev straighter and shorter(but they'd have to be a slightly smaller diameter, we could create the first functional Dual Exhaust for 4-cyl. Engines!!! This post has been edited by JesterDC: Jun 21, 2006 - 10:36 PM |

QUOTE(nemesis @ Jun 21, 2006 - 10:41 PM) My answer is simple--limited budget. I will eventually go for a bigger setup when financially possible. As for now, I did the neccessary. I have to get my car back in show condition now that I have reasonable "GO" nemesis QUOTE(JesterDC @ Jun 21, 2006 - 11:35 PM) Engines breathe, engines breath better with less resistance, less resistance comes from straighter and bigger(to a point)pipes, on V6 engines or other multiple exaust manifold engines having straighter pipes means having multiple pipes(2) thus two mufflers, on 4 bangers the second pipe makes more resistance b/c it causes turbulance at its inlet and reduces efficiency. tons of 4 cylinder cars comes with dual exhaust, usually they are split right at the silencer, the Mr2 and mazda 6 are just two out of the bunch..but they are subtle, if its 2 real big ass muffler, its pretentious! lol

couldnt you replace the whole exhaust piping with piping thats .35-.50"bigger, and run no mufflers? best exhaust sound is true exhaust sound IMO

haha i dont think i can look much more ricey right now, i bought the car with a eruboni shogun body kit and stuff and i was kinda mad to find out that there was absolutely no work done to the engine. so my car looks wicked fast but my god its so stock. :-p it sucks, i'm just going all out and buying a new engine when i can afford it. i really like the way dual exhaust looks... i pictured it looking like playr's... its pretty sick
