I have a question regarding injector sizing with the 5SFTE setup. I am looking for answers from people that have a 5SFTE...especially you Manny!
I know when it was originally proposed to go with the 5SFTE design, the green top supra NA injectors were proposed because they were originally thought to be 360cc, however they turned out to be around 315cc. It seems then that people went to the 440-460cc injector. This seems to be quite a significant jump and I have heard many people say they are really rich in the low rpm's. How do you find at the top end under full boost (are you still rich?). The reason I ask all these questions is because I found out that the MR2's did come with a 372cc injector and am wondering if that would be a good fit or would it be undersized? The part number is 23209-74160 and it came on the 01.11.1993-01.12.1997 3SGE SW20 (MR2's, maybe also on the 3SGE Celica's, not sure). According to witchhunter the flow is 372cc and it is a high impedance injector (13.4 ohm). ![]() So guys let me know what your thoughts are on these injectors for a 5SFTE application, just wondering if they would be worth trying or should I go right up to the mid 400's like the RX-7 Injectors Manny is running? Thanks. This post has been edited by WALKER: Jun 12, 2006 - 5:45 PM -------------------- |

They'd be awesome, but I don't think that we ever got a 3SGE MR2 in the States, I don't know about Canada.
Anways, with proper tuning the RX7 red-tops should be just fine, I think they are 440s. -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

Nope, we didn't get any up here either. I was just wondering if I were able to find some of these from overseas if it would be worth it.

i would stick to the rx7s manny uses. being a little ritch at idle is a small price to pay for more safetly and longer engine life.

on the other side of things, you could try both if u have the money. Then you could run on the dyno with each set and see if they do infact work better. You don't always need to go with the safest route.

hrmm..they "may" work for low boost (7-8psi) but i wouldnt run them without getting on a dyno, and seeing how the A/F ratio is.
kinda a crap shoot. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Alright, thanks for all your advice guys. I definately wouldn't try any injectors without the dyno to show me the numbers.
Well we will have to see, maybe if I can find a set of those injectors I may try them out. It probably is best to stay the safer route and get the RX-7 ones. -------------------- |
