whether it be an alternator on your blacktop 4age or your water pump for you 3sgte...

what if a part craps out on you...what do you do? can you just go down to advance auto and get the part? would you have to go to the dealership? how much is the price difference? would usdm parts fit a new version motor? what have you [jdm motor pplz] done?

i've got a 2nd gen motor and its a 92-93 jdm alltrac one so all i say to the dealership is i've got a 93 celica alltrac and i need ___ part for it, so on and so forth. u'd do the same thing at the parts store like autozone, advance auto, etc etc. i just go to the dealership more often because the quality of most of the parts from these parts store sucks, from my personal experience kindasad.gif

I asked this question a while back, and it seems that you can match most stuff with a USDM motor. If not, there is always online parts. Most of you're common swaps are going to have parts availible for them. Stuff like the blacktop or Beams will be harder to find parts for, but it would be hard to find parts overseas for that kind of stuff I bet. Rare is rare, no matter were it's at. Could be different.

Take advantage of WTB listings in the sell/buy forum on here. Somebody will see it if you need something.

i've never had that happen to me just yet, but then again i always provide a part number when i need something from the dealership smile.gif also bigmeanbulldog is right, ordering online is easy if you know exactly what u need and dont mind waiting for it to come in. i do it all the time with http://www.toyotaandlexusparts.com/ and http://www.wilsonmotors.com/en_US/

4age Silvertop:

Long block is exactly like the 4age Long blocks.
-Water Pumps
-Thermostat
-radiator
-Not the oil Pan tho (sucks)
-Not so sure yet about some internal parts

Silvertop Head:
-Head Does not match anything, Your screwed.
-Must have a timing belt handy (like me)
-Spark Plugs are the same as 4age
-Spark Plug wires (thats a different story)
-Coil, Ignitor, and AFM are the same as an 4age/3sge

Most stuff acn be ordered for cheap off of the Toyota/lexus website provided that you ahve a part number Handy.

No problems here since the st205 was sold here. No part # differences between EU and JDM 3S-GTE engine. If I order today before 3:00 PM its @ the dealer the next morning at 10:00 AM.
