wow, never seen a plug there before...you gotta use pliers and clamp the fastener part to release the death grip and it should slide off..
try putting the throttle nipple hose over that and the 2nd intake nipple. This post has been edited by LewFX: Jun 21, 2006 - 5:50 PM -------------------- ![]() |

QUOTE(LewFX @ Jun 21, 2006 - 3:50 PM) wow, never seen a plug there before...you gotta use pliers and clamp the fastener part to release the death grip and it should slide off.. try putting the throttle nipple hose over that and the 2nd intake nipple. I did use plyers to release the death grip, it still doesn't want to budge... it spins, but doesn't come off. also, I already have that other hose coming from the block somewhere connected to the second nipple (like in your pic) so I don't have any more available nipples! any clues as to what that thing actually does though? -------------------- ![]() 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

right, I finally got the valve hose off after employing a second set of hands (thanks mom!) and a flat head screwdriver. got it all set-up how it should be, and put some tape over that gold nipple coming from the throttle body. gonna get a breather for it eventually, but for now the tape works. the car started and ran fine for my half hour ride to band practice and back. actually felt alot smoother in accelleration. Thanks for the help!

it could be something on older gts only. in anycase, you are supposed to have that line hooked up to a vacuum. you can either T that line going to your tb, or you can try to find another spot on your valve cover that is currently plugged off, and plug the intake line into that.

alright, I finally went down to a local parts store, picked up some emissions tube, which he gave to me for free, sweet. they didn't have any kind of T-joint, so I went to another store, they had this one, so I got it... $4.99... jeez, now you know why I like the other store. anyway, came home and finally got it all together, so here's some pics:

Hey sorry for bringing this thread back to life, but I have some questions regarding this topic. Sorry I don't have any pictures to post yet from my own car.
I looked at my setup last night and I have that same goofy setup. I have a '95 GTS. not sure if that is why. Anyways, my question regarding this matter is should I change it around and make a T for my setup as well (like the picture below)? What are the pros/cons with the way it is setup (in picture below)? Can people post pictures of what their intakes look like stock (if there are any out there)? I bought my car with an aftermarket intake already on the car (it is cheap and ugly...homemade that needs to be changed), but my car does have the hose connected from throttle body across like second picture above. Anybody else have an earlier model that is setup with the hose off the throttle body? Can we determine if it was year/model specific? -------------------- |

I'd say, definitely put a hose from the intake to the valve cover. I felt a difference (however subtle), but after T-ing off to go to the throttle body didn't notice anything. I didn't, and still don't know what that nipple on the throttle body does, but I made sure it got it's vacuum just to be sure. it wasn't expensive, so why not? just go run down to your local auto parts store, ask for like 2 feet of emission hose (that's what I got), and try to find something to T it off with, something in the accessories department. and cut the emission hose into proper lengths and use the T and you're good to go!

I just might have to try that. Have you noticed any change in fuel economy at all? Any negative impacts yet?
Anybody else have opinions? Any pictures of stock setups? -------------------- |

QUOTE(WALKER @ Aug 4, 2006 - 7:03 AM) I just might have to try that. Have you noticed any change in fuel economy at all? Any negative impacts yet? Anybody else have opinions? Any pictures of stock setups? if anything, fuel economy has only gotten better. not too noticably though. I get about 23 mpg in the city, and like 30-ish on the highway. The only thing I've noticed, is that occasionally when starting my car, the revs will just drop all the way until the car dies. but usually revving the engine for a second or two cures that and it'll run fine the rest of the trip. of course, from what I've seen this is a common problem with the 6gc, and I don't think the intake has anything to do with it, cause it even did that once or twice when I had the stock intake. -------------------- ![]() 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |
