Who wants it, who has it, hates it or is thinking about it?

In my opinion, nos is very dangerous and pointless unless your racing for lots of cash every single weekend. Your gonna pay alot of money to get the NOS, have it installed, and then you'll be fixing parts that you've broken because of using it. Its only a guess but i'de say that less than half of the people that have NOS(or similar products) actually use them. So my advise is, if your gonna use it, go ahead, but if not don't waste the money and look like rice.

I agree with RedWuken on this one. I think that nitrous oxide(Not just NOS, which is a company name) is rather pointless unless you do a lot of racing. I'd much rather put the money towards something that provides power all the time, such as a turbo or an engine swap.

I dunno i mean if you cant afford a trubo or swap and you want hp upgrade i guess nitrous is the way to go but i dunno how safe it is or what. Most likely if you get trigger happy with it your gonna mess up your motor.

nitrous is pretty expensive at least the hidden cost (installation, extra parts...) and dangerous to your engine dude
beside u get a "danger to manifold" warning from ure laptop biggrin.gif

yeah.. and then Dom and the mad scientist will have to take apart the engine block and replace the piston rings you fried. Go ahead, ask any street racer. Its not wether you win by an inch or a mile, winnings winning.

also if you buy nitrous oxide then you have to keep refilling the bottle over and over and after a few times of doing that you got the money for a turbo and/or engine swap

i had nitrous on my nissan sentra se-r, it ran 14.9 stock and wiht the nitrous it was running 14's. the system costed me about 500 and about 35 bucks to refill it, i could get at least 12 runs at the 1/4 track. my car used to top out at 120 and i got it up to 140 with the nitrous, it helped alot during races, but i also broke 3 axles the welds on the exhaust cmae out and i blew the fuse to the ecu. its nice using it but it aint worth it in the long run, its not like we have b16 engines that go for around 800 bucks

i was thinking about going w/ nitrous on my car...i think it would be a good investment, because if done correctly, and used in moderation, it will not harm the engine. w/ a full rebuild, ignition upgrade, fuel upgrade, and monitering devices to keep track of everything, you can be fully aware of what's going on in order to keep things as safe as possible.and about after filling up the bottle you could have a turbo or engine, you could fill a 10lb bottle MANY MANY times before you spend 3k dollars...like, so many times it's unbelievable, unless the n2o dealers around you charge out the butt for it....anyway...i say if that's who you're gonna go..treat it like a turbo or something else, and upgrade the rest of the engine to handle it and make it work to its fullest potential.

I had a nitrous kit installed on my Celica, I used it once out of how many possible times. I feel that when i'm racing to gain something, I will use it. If i'm on the street and messing around, never. If i'm racing a car that I know will beat me, whats the point. If I know i'm going to beat a car, big deal, theres no use for it. The one time i've used it when I was racing my friend in his 200sx and his 3rd gear started pulling him from me and then I used the nitrous and took off on him. It got me 100$, so that was the whole purpose. Other than that, its nice to have "incase", but definitly not something I would use everyday, or once a week - even once a month.

nitrous is only going to f*** up your engine if it's not setup up properly. Most likely an engine rebuild should be considered before nitrous, and to coat the pistons.

ok I made a slight mistake on my post earlier, of course your going to do a high heat coating on the pistons, what I meant to say is the valves definitely need to be coated in a nitrous setup.

also smaller shots of nitrous would be better, like 25-30, any higher risk causing major shock to the engine.

heres the deal.... nirtous oxide will not harm ur engine when u use the right system and it is installed properly. ANY vehicle can withstand a 76 hp shot of nitrous with completly stock parts repeateadly without ne damage to the engine or componets. this is as long as the system is installed properly....

The problem with most people is that they will engage the nitrous at the wrong times. any type of nitrous must be engaged at wide open throttle ONLY!. The problem with most systems are that they are just controled by a switch that can be used at ne time.... thus putting the engine at risk... expesially if it is a timed or delayed shot.

One of the best systems on the market right now for under $600 is the ZEX kit. the ZEX kit is very easy to install and is completley safe for ur motor. this kit is not controled by a pust button switch.. this system conects to ur throttle sensor and when armed with deliver nitrous when the throttle is at wide open only. This is really nice for automatics, but is good for manuals also... another nice thing about this system is that the nitrous is continus. not just a shot or two but will engage everythime the throttle is at wide open and as long as it is wide open... but this is only when the system is armed.... also the system comes with a plug and play unit the learns the air/fuel curve of ur car and will adjust accorrdingly.

I would reccomend that if u plan on using nitrous with more than a 76hp shot or plan on using it on a regular basis then u will need to look into reenforcing ur intreals of ur motor.
