so when exactly after installing new springs should i get an alignment? i keep getting told different things

some say right after
some say 1 week
some say 3 weeks
some say about 600-700miles...

so.. when should i get it done? cause i don't wanna get the alignment done only to find out i'll need another one soon after because the springs haven't settled yet

y do u need an alignment? is yur steering off after dropping it? it should be the same. do u mean camber correction? cus i never had to ever get a wheel alignment everytime dropping a car, ive checked the alignment, they say nothings wrong with your alignment.

i was always told you should get a full alignment check after dropping you car ... so i guess it's better to be preventive then later on find out i have a lot of uneven tire wear or something like that

When removing the steering knuckle from the struts always get an alingment because it throws off your alingment.

should you really wait a week after lowing to get an alignement? why is that? good to know...cause i figured it should all be done at once...but what the hell do i know... rolleyes.gif smile.gif

uh do it all at once! wtf who waits a week? i did mine all at once...no issues to report.

edit: i see the logic behind waiting a week, (your springs settle) but if ur doing some commuting ull be unnecisarly wearing your tires.

see, every person i know in real life has done it about 1-2 weeks after... but i'm getting it done this weekend so i guess it's all good

yes, get it done asap...when I lowered mine in my garage, I threw the Toe way out of spec, which will mean rapid wear to the inner or outer edge of the tire, depending on if you have positive or negative toe.

Wait, steering alignment and camber correction are 2 different things. steering Alignment is so that the steering is straight and your car does not pull to any side. Camber correction is for the one that creates tire wear. If you have a negative camber, which is common after lowering, is you will get wear on the inside of the tire. This is what you guys are more concerned about. So ask for both.

o i thought when you get an alignment they do all of it toe/camber and whatever else there is. but i'll make sure to ask for a full alignment. thanks for the heads up

front camber WILL make the car pull right or left if the camber is uneven.

when a wheel cambers it wants to turn, just like a bicycle. if one wheel has more camber than the other then it will pull one way or another. - camber will cause the wheel to pull inward and + camber will cause it to pull outward.


toe in or toe out on any wheel can cause pull as well. front toe will cause a more abrupt pull than rear toe. front toe will feel like the car wants turn itself and driving straight is pretty hard. rear toe issues will feel like the steering wheel is just off center and it wants to fade from one lane to the other slowly.
