Hi, I need front struts. Apparently I need the mounts as well.
I am not looking for top of the line or racing equipment. I just need a decent ride. Similar to OEM would be great. If it last 3 years I am happy. Also, I am told I may also need the whole front suspension done eventually, I am told there are whole kits already put together where you just bolt it in already assembled. Any idea where to get these kits? I looked over ebay and saw some cheapish struts for around 35 a piece, and what appears to be mounts for around 35 for a pair. I do not know if these will work or not so I was hoping someone with more knowledge had a good suggestion on what and where to get the parts. Thanks in advance! |

I'd reccomend teh KYB GR2 struts.
There definately not 35 bucks a piece, but they're cheap for the quality. And if you ever decide to lower on springs, you'll still be able to do so on these. As for the mounts KYB makes an OEM replacement mount. All these are available on ebay for relatively cheap, I believe i ordered 4 struts and 4 top hats for around 400 total, last year. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

My KYBs have been nice to me. I'm lowered in TRD springs and the ride is very smooth with these struts. Great OEM replacement. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

Front struts are rebuildable, meaning you only have to replace the shock dampener cartridge rather than the entire strut. Makes for a cheaper repair.
The inserts are KYB 365092, run just under $50 each. You can also buy assembled struts for the front under part numbers 334379 (left) and 334378 (right) for a few dollars more. Monroe struts are a few dollars cheaper. You can get them cheaper on eBay, but since those aren't authorized resellers you cannot claim the lifetime warranty. However, you should still replace the strut mounts, and you're likely to need spring seat insulators. Monroes Strut-Mate kits do include both spring seat insulators as well as the strut mount and bearing. Monroe doesn't offer their complete MacPherson strut assemblies, under their Quick-Strut line, for Celicas. This post has been edited by Galcobar: Feb 2, 2013 - 6:17 PM |
