I was wondering because I am in the "has a header and a check engine light group" because I removed my front cat and do not have the rear O2 sensor hooked up. If I buy an ecu from a Fed spec 7AFE would it still need the rear O2 sensor? This is so that I don't have to modify my exhaust yet. A waste till I save for the 2" pipes that I want.

the easier thing to do would be to have a bung welded into your pipe and install the 2nd O2 sensor.

And about the bung I would have to have it welded after the cat that I have and then hope that it still doesn't set the CEL off. Being that it isn't really nessesary Iwould rather do without. |

If you do not have your second 02 hooked up then your mileage is probably gonna be messed up and the car won't be running as well as it should be. Just have the 02 flange welded in about the same spot as where it is with the stock pipe. I don't understand why you are trying to "cut corners" with doing this properly... -------------------- |

I had a second bung put in my exhaust after my cat and just extended my wires a bit to reach. It has been running great since and haven't thrown up a CEL. An extra bung isn't too much and is worth it if you ask me

I went to have the bung added along with some extra pipe to space my exhaust out but all they had was a screw in style bung that wouldn't fit the stock sensor. I don't have the stock down pipe or i would get the bung from there. Also I'm not cutting corners I just don't want to cut any wires and create week points. |

you can use any o2 sensor that has the same number of wires as your old one ,the o2 sensor right after my turbo came from a 87 sunbird i think and my 2 o2 sensor on my down pipe came from a 03 toyota corolla i got both of them at autozone

the first O2 sensor monitors the air/fuel ratio and is important to running the car. the 2nd o2 sensor, the one after tha cat, just monitors cat efficiency. if you want to run without a cat and not throw a code i believe you can get o2 sensor simulators. i know a guy at work had them on his mustang, but i dont know where you could find them, or if they even make them for your car.
