camshafts have nothing to do with how much boost you can take.

pistons will help, i haven't heard of the specific ones you are talking about... but if you are going to go higer than 8 psi, forged rods would be a very good idea, otherwise you'll be in danger of throwing one. always better to spend the 800 now and not potentially put a rod through the block (and potentially the turbo) later on when you get boost happy... unless you can hold yourself to 8 psi, get rods.

Well, when you start talking HP gains...of course you're going to need to upgrade your cams...especially after the 250 mark. Pistons will help...anything to lower your compression will help. Get a metal head gasket fo sho cuz that will help out a bunch. Just replace as many seals as you can to make sure the engine is in top shape. I've seen people with just new pistons, piston rings, metal head gasket, camshaft regrinds with 5sfte runnin 15-20psi.

well you don't NEED to upgrade your cams. it's a good idea, but i was saying that AM cams will not allow you to run more boost. they have nothing to do with it... it's all the pistons, rings, rods, and crank.

if you run 15-20 psi on stock 5sfe rods you will throw them. i can guarantee this. spend the 800 and get custom forged ones. it will let you sleep at nite, and if you are going to crack open the block to build the inside, you might as well put in as much as you can. if you won't shell out for that, at least get them race prepped and shotpeened, and that will help strengthen them up.

I meant to say rods with my list up there lol.

And yeah, I know. But when you start running 15-20psi...your engine is running a lot harder...more hp = more stress on engine...which means u should upgrade cams to be safe.

Get some TRD stickers, they add like 15hp and increase engine reliability 10 fold.

you should just gank the metal composite off or a 98+ camry for a metal head gasket wink.gif
