do you meen catalytic converter?
if so don't hollow it out unless you have to because if you do you will cause turbulence inside of it, it is better to replace with straight pipe. and On my car I could still pass texas inspection becauce when I was N/A I still had the cat/pre-cat thing on the manifold that would still get me by the visual inspection(although I remove manifold and remove elemt inside of that too) -------------------- If anyone is missing NASCAR and it's not on Speed Channel, take a fistful of Skittles, throw them in the toilet and hit the flush handle. no not the cat the EGR (exhaust gas recirculator) i think its what it stands for but its right below the exhaust manifold were the pipes come out of the block it is surrounded by metal shields and not the big heat shield.

is it on the exhaust tract after the manifold or is it bolted to the block itself???
look like a cylinder shape?, have vacuum lines or wires coming out of it? -------------------- If anyone is missing NASCAR and it's not on Speed Channel, take a fistful of Skittles, throw them in the toilet and hit the flush handle. Instant NASCAR!!!

I don't have aol/aim..
is this part right under the exhaust manifold?, I don't really know what part you are talking about, but then Again I haven't seen any of my EGR parts in a while because I removed almost all of them. because if it is right under the exhaust manifold and held onto the manifold with 3bolts (under heatshield) and 1 bolt to the block, it sounds to me likeit could be the cat/pre-cat thing that I was talking about before which is NOT the cat that is closer to your firewall it is more upstream of that even before your exhaust turns to go to under your oil pan. -------------------- If anyone is missing NASCAR and it's not on Speed Channel, take a fistful of Skittles, throw them in the toilet and hit the flush handle. The EGR hangs off of the intake manifold and goes down behind the block (so vertically down from where its attached to the intake manifold) and attaches to the block somewhere down there to tap off exhaust gas and send it through the intake again. This thing ROYALLY SUCKS ASS. I guess you can take it off and leave it off or clean it out or whatever....if you leave it off your ECU will probably flip out at you and give error codes. It is only USDM engines that have this gay thing. -------------------- Toyo'd, Eibach'd, Kayaba'd & BEAMS'd :D
