Wasl installing a new stereo to the deck of the car, but wires touch metal deck and spark came out, thus the lights on the corolla went out...head lights and other signal lights are okay...just the lights to light up the tachometer is dead and the drive shaft with the illuminated lights for the P,R,D,N is dead...any help...i would really appreciate it and can it be fixed? kindasad.gif

I had a similar problem when I installed my radio, all the lights in the dash blew, and I had to replace them as well as the fuse. The dash bulbs will probably be blackened when you pull them out.

hahaaha...damn...question sammyr..i haven't gotten a chance to pull out the tachometer but what type of bulbs is it for the corolla's tachometer light? since it is a 1998 corolla with digital reading...does it still have the bulbs in the back or is it a wire that lights it up like the indiglo gauages?

Ohh digital dashes are well beyond my experence, the corollas that came out in New Zealand still had the ones with bulbs in them, I could only suggest try the fuse replacement, and if that doesnt work, my first stop would be those dash lights, be it a wire or bulbs. good luck smile.gif
