yeah those are the two name brands made our cars but if you dont feel like spending $160-$200 something for just a short shifter id say just get the 7th generation celica short shifter off of eBay. only $45 and it does the same job. some people hate it and rather go with twm or trd but eh if you wanna save alot of money for almost the same thing id say go with the eBay one smile.gif - goodluck on your decision - im gonna be getting the 7th generation celica short shifter off of eBay cause im poor frown.gif laugh.gif

yeah, but 7th gen will fit on ours. the only thing I had to do was cut one peice of plastic to allow for the lower shift linkage

but everything else just fit right in.

nope doesnt matter. just make sure you download the TWM instructions and print it out and give it to the shop if youre not doing it yourself. not sure if the eBay ones come with instructions but give them the TWM instructions for our car so they can follow off of that.

last thing. if i just cut of 3 inches or so from my stock shifter wouldnt that do the same thing as buying one? because arnt short shifters just shorter and thats all. it dosnt change the gear ratio at all right?

short shifters are shorter on top and longer at the bottom. cutting your stock one won't make much difference. it won't look hideously long but the throws will pretty much be the same. if you don't wanna spend 40 bucks on ebay, there's a proper way to make a custom short shifter in the how-to section.

Make sure a short shifter is what you really want cause I've heard of lots of people saying its too short........I have a 7th gen SS on my celi its ok just hate how its sooo stiff compared to the stock one... kindasad.gif

you have to break it in for the stiffness to go away. or if you're too impatient you can grease it up a lil. imo the ebay short shifter is one of the smarter mods i've done to my car. not ridiculously expensive and it serves its purpose without being too short and stubby like the twm.

I hope that works cause I've been trying to break it in for awhile now... biggrin.gif The 7th gen SS is good though... thumbsup.gif
